I 100% agree with this. I'v noticed mods ( especially ogugua and sexkills) hiding posts for no other reason than because they disagree with what u have to say or have a personal agenda against u. they display their bullying in the open too. what an affront.
to think that I used to have great respect for them. esp ogugua

That's false. Or prove me wrong.

Your comment was hidden because I said get back on topic and you responded with a picture of "haterade". Like I told you in that thread, there's a difference between banter and insults. Modella takes comments like the one I made lightly, and she will respond me in the same manner if she's up to it. No big deal. She's not complaining, and I didn't violate any rule. I don't hide comments depicting banter. I hide deliberately insulting comments.

my comment was NOT off topic. I said you were sipping on haterade against the celebrity in question. how is that off topic except for the fact that you took offense to the idea that anyone would call you a hater.
it was totally on topic. unless your own comments about clothing combination was also off topic. which is what my comment was in response to.

also, you are a moderator so we wouldn't expect you to start banning yourself or hiding your own posts so I will not respond to that part about Modella. She may not have taken offense to your post. That's not for me to judge. I'm not a moderator whose job is to judge what is offensive or what is not. If you can call someone a blind woman and say it is banter. while you hide another person's post for calling u a hater. then there is clearly something wrong there. If we want to follow nairaland rules 100% then no one should make offensive comments period. and then say "oh my comment was banter so it doesn't count" that to me is very unfair.

i'm sure you will hide this post as you have always done. let's just see how long it will take.

I did not hide your comment because you called me a hater. I hid your comment because it was off-topic. I finished replying you about your first hidden post and told you to get back on topic which was Damilola Adegbite's Birthday Celebration. I went and found my comment for you:

ogugua88: When you're a mod, then do so. Rude or insulting posts are not tolerated. Back on topic now please.

You proceeded by posting a picture of "haterade". Here is the reply, which I hid:

c.fours:
it has become a criminal offense to hurt a mod's feelings heh?

Would you like to explain to me how that is back on topic? Your two subsequent posts were hidden because they were off-topic.

You do not know the kind of rapport I have with Modella. I am not one to post insults. There is nothing wrong with me calling her a blind woman when she and others were having a friendly debate as to who was better looking (Jim Iyke or Michael Essien). There have been several times where I say something and she or other posters will reply in a joking manner, or vice versa.
One thing that moderators have fought for on the behalf of Nairaland members is freedom of speech and hiding comments according to context. If you are going to attempt to use my comments against me, then be sure to realize under which circumstances the comment was made. You simply can't look at my one post that says "Blind woman lol." and call it an insult because you have no clue as to the context of the general conversation. If moderators hid comments by members in the same way you've decided to analyze my one post, aka obliviously, you all would be livid.
Re: The Unprofessional-ism Of Nairaland Moderators... by cfours: 8:17am On May 26, 2013

glad u admit that you hid my post for calling u a hater.

why do you think many members of NL are livid?
when "hater" is considered an insult but "blind woman" isn't.

i'm glad you mention context. because context also include something called POINT OF VIEW. and sad to say but you as a moderator can look from ur point of view and decide to hide post or ban people. where as from the other person's point of view, they did nothing wrong or were treated unfairly.

from your point of view it was offtopic, from my point of view. it absolutely wasn't.
and besides, if you must have the absolute last word and say that my comment was offtpic, then there are some comments on that thread that were also off topic made by you.

I am going to log off now because there is nothing positive coming out of this. you will see it from ur point of view and i will see it from mine. and asking me to "bring it to your attention" is like a cat asking a rat to bring itself to the cat's attention. that's clearly not going to work.
anyway, I'm just glad I'm not the only one who sees a problem with the way nairaland is being moderated. I didn't create this topic after all.

This from a moderator who decided a half nude picture was art while some bikini pics are . . . indecent and provocative. Ignoring my arguments against the pic. It's Damilola's birthday pic.

I believe this is the third or fourth time I'm telling you that bikini pictures are allowed in the Miss Nairaland contest. I said it twice in the other Damilola thread and severally in the Miss Nairaland suggestions thread.

Pictures like Damilola's are welcome. Bikini pictures are welcome. Pornographic pictures are not welcome.

Why not ? This is so since some so-called p0rn pics or flicks are intended in an artistic sense. Or some depictions of nudity (which I presume is frowned here) upon is well known in the West to be art. Consider this

Then what is it, minute? So you think it is not qualified to be called a distracting post? Or isn't that your intention? So your post would stand out even when it is not worth it? Don't you realize the quality of a post is not in it's conspicuity but in the quality of it's content? You are not going to get more likes with your large fonts, so why try. Besides, the main issue is that it is qualified to be called a distracting post, and according to rule 11, that is not allowed, end of story!

of course I expect no less. the last part of your post especially. "we have to maintain order"
Yea things will not be as efficient if every society judged cases like King Solomon. It is easier to just cut the baby in half isn't it? But this approach may end up backfiring in d long term. consider that.

I will urge you to consider limiting moderators freedom to post as they wish on threads (especially mods who are very active in contributing opinions to threads). this is so as to reduce double standards.
moderators who do their job more behind the scene are more respected they are less likely to do the same things they are punishing others for.
I can totally understand that for a very active member, it is probably almost impossible to never break any rule at all. moderators break rules and we see it. especially the ones who are active posters.

if her reason for hiding my post makes a lot of sense then I can assure you that one can make an argument for why 25% of all posts on this forum also justify being hidden based on the 21 rules u listed. It all depends on how they are interpreted and especially by WHO has the power to make the judgements and interpretation. i'm sure u will agree with me.

Why did I get banned for two months in the politics section again by sexkillz?

I posted my opinion on this thread and this little albino boy banned me for freaking two month just for freedom of speech.

Seun, tell your mod to stop pissing me off because if I decide to retaliate - your forum will suffer. I know what I can do to this damn forum. If you don't want people posting on your forum - you might as well yank it of the web.

What about when people get banned when they respond to PDP agent's insult and you get banned but PDP agents insults only get deleted but not banned. PDP agents operate on nairaland politics section with impunity. They insult you when you don't agree with their posting and if you report them, their posts sometimes get deleted without ban and sometimes the moderators do nothing.

@Seun

Go through posts by this guys called Rossikky, tomastink, sincere9gerian, taharqa, ckkris, jakumo, pointB, adejoro74, chima adeoye, policewoman, and many may more. Why these people insults other posters everyday on this forum and they don't get banned?

Imagine I was banned today in politics section for creating a thread about the same complain I just made to you and I did not insult anyone. Your moderators are dictators.

Lol, he also banned me from the section, guess cause I called him an albino. And I saw your post, it didn't even warrant a ban at all. You know seun you have to realise the only people who approve of sexkillz are jambites in the romance section, or at least people who should be jambites.grin If there was any justice on this forum he wouldn't even have been made a mod in the first place. Lmao. Obviously, the prick is a biitch seeking my attention.

And you've got a ridiculously dumb owner, who lacks the proper wit to run a business. His own posts on the forum says a lot about the type of person he is. His trick is to get people to keep registering new handles just to boost the pseudo-population of his forum.

Anyway, I'm busy for now, I'll have time for them in the next few weeks. wink I'll personally go into the forum's database and delete all my handles and posts. And probably delete everything I want off the forum.

Exactly! And what annoys me most about it is that he wouldn't have to engage in such belittling acts if he was innovative and considered the ideas and opinions of nairalanders. Imagine, so many members have advocated the introduction of a dislike button for example. It could even act as the machinery for hidding posts, instead of biased and hypocritical mods. But no, he wouldn't listen, not even consider it and at least highlight reasons why he would not agree. See Linda Ikeji, I was browsing through google's playstore this morning and came across her latest app, really cool stuff. That's what you call dynamism, and seun seems to have none it. Nairaland has so much potential, if only it was in the right hands.

Seun is too stubborn to make a good entrepreneur which is why he is not rich despite having hundreds of thousands of members. Linda Ikeji is very innovative, flexible and proactive; she listens to advice and listens to her readers which is why she's making so much money from her blog.

First rule of business success is: customers are always right. NL members have been raising such issues as opt-out button, dislike button and even Sexkill's excesses yet Seun decides to turn a blind eye to all these. That is why NL will always remain where it is at present.

Ogugua88's big font is not violation of rule 11 right? Only yesterday I opened a thread on the recent ban I got from Sexkillz for violating rule two. I sent him a mail and didn't get a reply which he claimed he sent...he proved this by coming up with a kind of snapshot he can only verify and started bullying me...

@SEUN This sexkillz guy is too juvinile to be entrusted with the task of a moderator...I hope you know something about Altavista and AOL. Your MODs are busy bullying your customers while you keep a deaf ear...For God sake why don't you ban people from only the thread they violate instead of the whole section..you need to examine your business model and ethics to be sure of what you want these MODs to do and the power they wedge.

Couldn't agree more. I guess seun in his strage mind believes what has always worked for him will keep working, but not in a world with so much competition, one in which you must be dynamic to remain at the top. Nairaland seems so dull and dry now, there's nothing new. Infact it only gets worse with all the restrictions and rules so silly even the mods break them, right in his face as well. That's why you always have new generations of users, most of the old ones get bored or fustrated and leave for greener pastures. And even though I ain't an old one yet, if seun remains this rigid and unreceptive, I'd be packing my bags as well.

Can you imagine the thrash? And I am sure she has seen my post but has been unable to reply. Yet I just visited her profile page (was nearly petrified by the picture of an albino/frankenstein look alike grin) and realized she is still using those large fonts. Still she had the guts to castigate someone when she herself was breaking a rule. Talk about the hypocrisy! And even seun was supporting her. I really don't know what's wrong with him. People have been complaining about her and her boy-boy's large fonts but he has done nothing about it, and he calls himself a leader? When he can't even make his own employees abide by the rules he wishes them to enforce? Sounds more like a bootlicking boss, and that my friend is no boss at all.
