Average Billionaire Net Worth By Country: Full List SHARE: Nigeria is home to a pair of billionaires, cement king Aliko Dangote and oil and telecom magnate Mike Adenuga. The two are worth a combined $20.8 billion, or nearly $7.3 billion more than the GDP of neighboring Niger. In terms of average net worth, Nigeria’s billionaires are the richest on the planet, coming in at $10.4 billion. Nigeria sits atop the heap thanks largely to Dangote, who with a net worth of $16.1 billion is the wealthiest man in all of Africa. While Nigeria can lay claim to the title of world’s richest billionaires on average, it is home to the second fewest billionaires per capita, ahead of only communist Vietnam. In fact, just .00001% of the west African nation’s population is worth at least ten figures. Compare that rate to that of Monaco, the tiny Mediterranean nation that boasts the largest number of billionaires per capita in the world at .01% of the population. However, though one in every 10,000 people are billionaires, Monaco’s richest have a relatively modest average net worth of just under $1.5 billion, landing the city-state at the bottom of our list in the 60th spot. Right behind Nigeria in second place on our list of average billionaire net worth is Mexico. The United States‘ southern neighbor is home to 15 billionaires, worth $9.9 billion on average. That figure is bolstered by the $73 billion fortune of telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helu, the wealthiest man alive. The remainder of the top ten is rounded out by emerging nations like Colombia and Saudi Arabia and members of the European old guard such as Germany, Sweden and France. As for the United States, its billionaires come in 16th in terms of average net worth, wedged between more recent upstarts Ireland and Brazil. America’s 442 billionaires, by far the most in the world, are worth more than $4.2 billion on average. Just .0001% of the U.S. population, or one in every million people, are members of the Forbes Billionaires club. Here is our full list of average billionaire net worth by country. 1. It comes as no surprise to me! Nigeria was handed over to these people to 'rap.e' and 'plunder', hence the richest Africans come from these two regions (these are just the 'official' ones you know of ); and what is the fate of the entity called Nigeria after they've been superintendent over our collective affairs and destinies from the late 60's to 2009?: poverty, penury, suicide, dearth in infrastructure, corruption, otumokpo/jazz/fetish rituals, armed robbery, kidnapping, terrorism, thugs/criminals in politics/gov't, etc-etc-etc.......oh! and before i forget; we've also got the largest concentration of unworthy, greedy, thieving, opportunistic and monopolistic billionaires on the face of mother earth! Go figure! 2 Likes |

The Country is not doing badly. If and when Nigeria stabilizes, these wealth will definite come back home when the holders are dead or by transfers. ........................................................... |

Ngwakwe: The Country is not doing badly. ^^^For Nigeria to survive, there has to be a level playing field for everyone! Like you allude to, we're getting there, but there's still a long way to go: the centre MUST be made less attractive; the regions/states is where it should be happening; and there should be proper 'fiscal federalism' in place, not just empty noise of being a federation. There's still hope. |

IGBO-SON:True talk, the centre is too powerfull and it determines alot of things, this is the reason for instability, religious rivary, political backclash and tribal/ethnic striff because u must get to the centre to make it and everybody want to get it there so we keep pulling the centre by all means and tricks. I will advice that we should decentralise the system and allow resource control and stop monthly salary to state. |

Some people are just commenting here just for the sake of commenting. Little do people know that nigeria was able to lead the chat just because there are very few billionaires. The rank was base on average which decreases with the number of subjects involved. Mathematically: average = total amounts the billionaires worth / no of billionaires. I.e average is inversely proportional to the no of billionaires USA has more billionaires than almost every country but couldn't top the chat because of the high numbers they have. |
