This further goes to show the complicity of men of the police in criminal activities. Instead of them to fight crime, they are rather aiding and abetting crime. How then are we going to successfully get rid of saboteurs and vandals with such an attitude? I've said it time without number, the Police force needs a total overhauling.

Do you think the police commissioners become extremely rich from 20 naira at the check points? I heard that the standard bunkry price is 25m naira a year. When u pay this to commissioner of police or whoever is in charge of the area. You are given police escort to blow up pipe lines and draw as much as u want for one year.

I guess they did not want those vandals to name their oga at the top so the shot the nscdc .

it could be the so called "policemen" were not real policemen, maybe they were co gangs of the vandals and they pretended to be policemen, only God could tell what really happend, but if they were to be real Policemen then something is wrong with our security system in Nigeria......

. They refused to return fire because they couldnt categorically shoot at that moment, its the oga at the top that will tell them to return fire. They didnt know what they will do now and the oga at the top will say another.

I am not relly suprised at ds story, although dismayed. A policeman who gavee a ride last yr confessed his personal hatred(albeit general) for d men of NSCDC. He said if he had d optn to chose who to shoot btw dm and an armed robber he wont hesitate to shoot d officer nd let go of d criminal.WHY? D Police sees NSCDC as a threat, a competition nd an afront created by OBJ.
I've worked wit both in my team nd observed d ,FIERCE RIVALRY btw dm. I hope ds is solved quickly in d interest of security.

I guess u dont knw wot it means to be caught unaware. And if two security agencies exchange shud exchange fire, wont u loose confidence in both agencies?

I just understand y the evil people are using d media blunder of oga at d top, the nscdc is giving them problem cos he had reduced dia source of income, they FG should just overhaul d NPF and re-employees fresh mind, cos anytime I see men in black am always afraid of accidental discharge

Immediately the Police got wind of the information laid siege for the Corps and open fire on the NSCDC patrol vehicles killing two while others scampered for their dear lives with gunshot wounds as the vandals were released immediately by the police.

On seeing that it was the police, the men of the corps refused to fire single shot from their rifles but could only express sock at a sistes agency who ordinarily should assist in fighting crime and other criminality are the ones aiding them while the vandals continue to flourish in crime.

They could have been attacked by other robbery tean wearing police uniform. We know that there are times when the robbers wear military or police uniforms to perpetuate their act.

RIP to the fallen...

I was tempted to say the NSCDC should be merged into the police as a "Pipelines Command" but then they would become succeptible to the negative influence of the force. They along with the SSS and the Police all need to be strengthened so that they can checkmate each other. The SSS should monitor the Police, NSCDC should be empowered and trained in weapons handling. Remember they've just been given guns like a few months ago, and the majority of their work is within the vicinity of burst petroleum products pipelines. They along with Customs and Immigration can be monitored by a law enforcement focused Ministry of the Interior, headed by someone with a security/military background.

Just think, if those policemen knew the NSCDC team were carrying sofisticated automatic weapons, bullet proof vests and were well trained, there's no way they would have confronted them. We could have possibly then learned of others involved in their racket.
