from my experience, you won't lose your data like apps and games. But flashing the software from a laptop would probably result in data loss. Which is probably why they advice that you back up your data through BlackBerry Link.

From my experience with upgrade of my Z10's software, I don't lose data after OTA update. + Glo subscription for the update should do just fine.
