Presidency: It’s Ndigbo’s Turn - Anyaoku by lekanolas: 2:56pm On Apr 03, 2013 |
Former Commonwealth Secretary- General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has said that it is the turn of Ndigbo to produce the next president of the country after President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure. He said a President of Igbo extraction must take over the mantle of leadership from President Jonathan whenever his tenure comes to an end. Anyaoku, who stated this in a interview with journalists in his country home, Obosi, Anambra State at the weekend, during his 80th birthday anniversary celebration, said that whether Jonathan is leaving office in 2015 or in 2019, should he contest and win a second tenure election, an Igbo president should take over from him. The former Commonwealth scribe insisted that equity demands that Ndigbo must produce the next president and take over from Jonathan because all other geopolitical zones of the country have produced the president at one time or the other except Ndigbo, who make up the South-East geo-political zone. According to him; “It does not matter whether Jonathan is leaving office in 2015 or 2019, what matters is that an Igbo president should take over from him as a mark of equity and fair-play since no Igbo man has ever been elected as president but other geo-political zones have produced the president at various times.” http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/presidency-its-ndigbos-turn-says-anyaoku/ |

Nonsense!!! Presidency isn't a turn by turn thing, it's something you fight for not something you cry for. Anyaoku like most IBOs on Nairaland believe the way to the Presidency is to tie wrapper, sit under a cashew tree and whine, complain and sulk like over fed babies. Keep crying, while others strategise on how to be politically relevant, you hear... Mumu man!! 20 Likes |

lekanolas: Former Commonwealth Secretary- General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has said that it is the turn of Ndigbo to produce the next president of the country after President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure. I RESPECT THIS AGED TECHNOCRAT. THE ONLY WAY TO PROVE THAT IGBO ARE READY TO BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF THE NATION IS TO HAVE A CONTESTANT IN 2015. MAKE ANY POLITICAL MOVES THAT WILL ENCOURAGE YOUR OWN BECOME A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE. IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO IN 2015, IT SEND A SIGNAL THAT ARE REALLY NOT READY. BECAUSE IF THEY CAN STEP DOWN TILL WHEN THEY KNOW THAT GOODLUCK WILL NOT BE CONTESTING, OTHERS ALSO HAVE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO CONTEST IN 2015 AND BEYOND AGAINST SAME JONATHAN BASED ON NIGERIA CONSTITUTION. NOT PDP ZONAL ARRANGEE. 4 Likes |

Nothing like turn by turn in Nigeria. That is PDP's arrangement. Anyone that feels they are qualified can run. PDP cannot dictate Nigeria's constitution. They are only a party among many political parties. If you think you can get votes, then go out and run. Dont wait for a turn or PDP to cheat for you. 3 Likes |

If Anyaoku's reason is base on the fact that it is only president from the south eastern part that has never been democratically elected, then that is a big time goof. What about the north central? A house against itself shall never stand. What the ndigbo need doing is to be united and try to pacify and lobby every other geopolitical zone for their ambition. Letting them to understand the issue of the civil war is gone. Cos that is the problem of many ndigbo even on nairaland. Any small issue, you see them them shouting genocide, starvation and blockade. Cubans used José Martí as their symbol of independence from spain, The south- western region cited M.K.O. Abiola as the reason for the yoruba to be the president in 1999. Many south southerners cited ken saro wiwa. The ndigbo too should find a concrete reason to back their request and be very serious in unity with the issue. They can't just sit down and expect the other geopolitical zones to come and be buttering their bread when we all have insufficient butter to add to our own breads 3 Likes |

goodluck is an igboman . so what are you talking about.. goodluck has use 6 years there as an igboman.. from 2009 when he became acting president. 2009 to 2015. stop pretending that you dont know that Goodluck is igbo.. who bear the name Ebele azikiwe.. Igbo people.. and who comes from Otu Eke(border town of river state), an igbo name for the village of eke .. Igbo people.. Go to Otu eke and they are speaking igbo there. so after goodluck 6 years.. you still want the president.. i wonder you people. Alamieyeseigha an ijaw man pick a minority ethnic group in the state as his deputy governor.. call Ebele Azikiwe goodluck. Because Alamieyeseigha an ijawman could not pick another ijaw man as his deputy .. Goodluck was honor by his epkeye people.. when he became deputy governor of bayelsa state. I wonder sometime, how some of you nigerian think, the rest of us are fools. so after an igbo Ebele Jonathan have use 6 years in power, you now want to replace him with another igboman... is that fair on other nigerian... Goodluck is from the east.. Yar adua was from the North. nigeria has only 3 unit. the north were yar adua comes from. the east where goodluck comes from and the west .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koxYanBnUJ0 2 Likes |

Do you want to collect only 20 pounds no matter the amount u have in your account prior to the war? They government went to the extent of asking rivers people to add -R prefix to their igbo names and towns. 1 Like |

Wake up people, tribe does not deliver basic amenities for good living rather GOOD governance does! Do not vote against tribal/religious divide go for competence people!! God bless you. What does it profit me if I have a president from my tribe/village that will be as clueless as Jonathan. I will rather have a complete foreigner who will provide light, security, jobs and infrastructure than have a president from my village. These same old looters use tribe to make a case for them to loot. I dont mind a foreign president if we cant find a credible Nigerian politician. We just need a president that will better the lot of Nigerians no matter where he is from! 2 Likes |

ayswags: the fear of awolowo is the beginning of wisdom for Igbos Awoliwo was an ex convict, a coupist and above all he committed suicide out of frustration that he couldn't attain the height reached by great Zik of becoming President of Nigeria in his life time. So why will an average brave Igbo man fear a mere ex convict. In the history of Nigeria have you seen anybody that had a child and name him awolowa outside yeroba land? But you hear people from other tribes name their children Azikiwe. Just like GEJ's parents named him Azikiwe over 50 years ago. The name awolowa is synonymous with taboo, nobody wants to identify with it, because he lived a criminal life. 6 Likes |
