There are different classes of society, the poor, the average ( or middle class) and the rich, yet not everyone classed as average are the same. An average family can still be richer than another average family that is to say there are other sub-classes in the class "Average" e.g Second class upper and second class lower.

So when I use two adjectives together, I'm only trying to be specific and pin point those who are borderline average ( they can afford comfort but not luxury ).

Check all the rich people around you, they don't sleep in the same room. They couldn't most times even if they wanted to, or do you think they sleep as long as poor or average people do?
