If my memory serves me right, the same guy who was visiting Nigeria and holding 'peace' meetings with powers that be when Moshood Abiola was terminated with a cup of tea? Trust him not!

You see, the United States was blessed five years ago when Barrack Obama became the President. Because America overcame, for the first time, a kind of ethnic tribalism.

The 2008 election had very little to do with race and "tribalism". Jackson campaigned for presidency in the 1980s and lost, not because he was black, but because his agenda wasn't feasible. This is the same man who protested against and then supported black children being taught in Ebonics. He was no Obama. One truly can't be honest and say that circumstance didn't help a younger and intelligent Obama in 2008. The country was in terrible shape and a majority of Americans blamed republicans for it, so whoever won the democratic nomination (black, white, woman, man, gay, straight, alien, horse) would be president; it was pretty much a fact. I'm digressing.

He's trying to liken the situation in Nigeria with that of the Civil Rights movement, which isn't really accurate. He doesn't understand the full situation or even the magnitude of it. His opinion is definitely appreciated, but I'd like him to do his homework and see whether or not he'd have the same opinion.

Jesse Jackson should concern himself about how to give amnesty to Guantanamo bay detainees found innocent. He should solve that legal limbo of his country first, before he has the moral right to advise Nigeria. tongue tongue

ayobase: Even America wouldn't negotiate with a terrorist....he meant well, but idea not bought...we also don't negotiate with terrorist!

Yeah, but if they had accepted the amnesty GEJ offered them you wouldnt be saying this.

well said as a reverend he's trying to shelve violence and clamour for peace as any religious leader should.in this case,no is the answer.you don't grant amnesty to faceless chameleon terrorist whose motives contravene every criminal code on earth.in as much as US won't enter into negotiations with alqaeda to prevent further attack on US territory.there's no reason why we should offer the same.amnesty isn't a presidential pardon for alamaesiya, its determines the future and course of peace in our country.

Its been ɑ̣̣̝̇̇
while I visited nairaland.. I just had to post on this thread.. I read what d Revrend said and he seemed to have offered reasonable conditions on the way forward and also drew instances from american politics where national interest has been put ahead of political, ethnic and religious issues... It disgusted to to see the first 4 people to have commented on this thread as chasing shadows and leaving substance.. Wtf mehn! Its either the modrator must'ɑ̣̣̝̇̇
been sleeping to hav allowed post from shymexx, afam4eva, chelsebmw and van snikers make this thread.. Some issues are ment to be sancrosantic and not to be toyed with.. These guys sounds like jokers to me.. Our land is fast degenerating into ɑ̣̣̝̇̇
war zone and Ų come post bullshit here on nairaland.. The Revrend said somthing about Economic Amenesty and also about sharing available resources evenly.. I think he adressed the whole problem naigeria is having.. He talked about sincearity of our leaders and economic restitutions and these clowns just come here to talk bullshit.. Economic restitutions and amnesty such that, the north is like some 30 years behind the south.. The government should bring them to date by empowering them with Mass and compulsory Education like Awolowo did for the southerners.. There is enof resources in the land but its not trickling down.. The revrend said there should be equality in sharing of available resources, meaning to say, our looting leaders should put ɑ̣̣̝̇̇
halt to it.. We need sincerity and transparency... Those guys contributing bullshit probably doest know what ɑ̣̣̝̇̇
full war blown situation is like.. Look at Syria... For 2 years nao and counting ɑ̣̣̝̇̇
war that started just in one day is 2 years nao and still counting.. America is accusing Russia of suppling Syria with weapons and Russia is not even denying it.. No negotiations are being reached, UN is just looking and the war degenerates everyday.. Refugees from syria cross the border to seek shelter in Turkey.. Bombs went off in Turkey and the Turks are mad at their goverment for allowing Refugees in their land, nao the turks are being hostile to syrian Refugees.. Like FELA sang..' Double Wahala For deadi body and d owner of deadi body..
So ♍ brothers, B4 Ų comment for the fun of commenting, please reason or else this nairaland wouldn't be serving its purpose.. Afteral, all the Arab Springs started mainly as an internet Revolution or I'l say more of their revolutions ώăS̤̥̈̊
thru such internet forums... So I think nairaland deserves some decorum and not just lousy comments. If you don't have what to say, just shot up! I hardly ever comment but those guys realy disgust me with their post.. So what! Oppourtunistic.. Perms his hair.. Those are not the issues on ground.. The real issues are that, there is war in maiduguri, yobe, adamawa.. And these people are even fleeing to Gombe and other places as I read today, so this small thing can snow ball. As we talk. People are still looting.. Let the goverment bring an economic restitution to the table today and let's see.. Let's decide what we want in the restitution.. The cost of running governace is too much.. Democracy is too expensive, corruption is too entrenched, land blessed with milk and honey but yet poor people.. These are the Restitutions we need.

Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Obama, etc. are all idiots and are waste of time at best. Islam is a declaration of war on all of civilization. No matter what you give to Boko-Haram, because of their false, antichrist Islamic believes they will always be very violent.

Its like you never ehard of war indemnity.. Nobody actually ever wins ɑ̣̣̝̇̇

last resort. War is very expensive.. War only makes us more vulnurable and exposes us to more hunger.. I watched on BBC world report ђоώ Nigeria ώăS̤̥̈̊
being portrayed to the outside world and for once I †̥
ōt what ɑ̣̣̝̇̇

way forward.. We sit down and watch everyday and things keep degenerating.. OMG!

Re: Jesse Jackson Backs Amnesty For Boko-Haram by Parnassuss(m): 4:08am On May 20, 2013
Whatever the case, he made a serious point on tackling the Boko Haram issue through constructive social measures, i.e. rebuilding and rehabilitation. Granting amnesty too IS an option but only if the BH come begging for it and lay down all arms. This Amnesty would then mean trying them under lesser charges than treason and murder in the 1st which are mandatory death sentences.

On the other hand, Jesse Jackson blundered like hell when he said there are 'Buddhists' in Nigeria. Saying such a thing such that homeboy did not do his appropriate homework on this country

Originalsly: Al Sharpton is a nuisance to the African American community? Tell that to the families of Abadou Diallo and so many others who have been gunned down by the police. If it weren't for Al Sharpton the very media you believe in would have made so many believe tbey were gang members...criminals. Continue tuning in to your subtly racists programmes and before long you will be trying to join the Ku Klux Klan.
Please tell them. Can you imagine fellow blacks insulting this man and Al Sharpton?Maybe they have nothing to say. This guys are the only Negro voice heard in the whole of the US.Can you imagine one dude here saying his program on MSNBC is rubbish.I weep for my fellow African Americans who spew such thrash from their mouth.I stand to say here that after the passing on of these two great Civil Right Activists the blacks in America have nobody to speak on their behalf.Mr.Al Sharpton have been the voice of the blacks through the media. The Blacks will really miss them when they are gone

Jesse Jackson revealed some home truths. Ultimately there is a place for dialogue to achieve lasting peace. Any peace secured through the instrumentality of force is nothing but a momentary one.
Re: Jesse Jackson Backs Amnesty For Boko-Haram by Bobandgreat: 5:16am On May 20, 2013
@pstacks, I couldn't finish ur long rhetorics but I have to tell u, u derailed this topic. Everybody knows about the problems of Nigeria which was caused by thesame supporters of boko haram by the way and Jesse Jackson cannot be a specialist in our problems more than us experiencing it. A democratically elected govt is not allowed to solve it by these Islamists and u are here spewing non wisdom. The north is not as backward as the people in Bakassi, Niger Delta, Ebonyi, villages in the SE, SW, MB, anywhere else in the country. Their leaders are the richest in the country, they should just drop their selfish and wicked attitude to help their people instead of continually impoverishing them so as to make them willing tools for their greedy religious and political propaganda. Pls change ur font, its painful to the eyes.

Back to the topic, Jesse got it wrong this time. If they grant amnesty to these virgin hunters, then every criminal in Nigeria deserves amnesty.
Re: Jesse Jackson Backs Amnesty For Boko-Haram by Nobody: 5:25am On May 20, 2013
Rev Jesse Jackson goofed on this issue big time! Boko haram deserve NO amnesty at all. In fact, all BH members should be slaughtered (preferably beheaded, with the eyes completely gorged out).

How I wished he was personally affected, then let's see if he will still sing the same tune.

Finecat: Jesse Jackson needs to stfu! and go back home and try to fix the disfunctional black Ghettos and hoods in America. If he's such a good problem solver, he should start from his black communities in America or fix his son (Jesse Jackson Jr.) going to Prison in August for fraud in Illinois. I guess he's looking for money again like he did when Abacha and IBB were in Govt. OLE!

#cosign. Totally agree with ya

Oga J.J. I'm disappointed in you on this one. Come and spend your vacation in Borno state to defend your comments....btw I ddn't know we had Buddhists in Nigeria. Thanks for the enlightenment!!

Speaking of amnesty, let those BH dudes come out and tell the world that they just bombed, killed & maimed innocent lives for no meaningful reason. Oh, I forgot....the reason is that "Western education is a sin".

Look at the nonsense that the man is talking about. Where was he when those animals were slaughtering innocent people? He should go back to his country and stop poking into our affairs.
