Well, its painful I'm not a fan of Fuji music. As a young boy I knew of Afro Beats, Juju and many other forms of music. Yet Afro beats made more sense to me maybe because of its high instrumentation or thought provoking lyrics, I really don't know.
Yet, these songs were never considered as the most exciting amongst youths and they were not really models for youths...For instance, there were no Sunny Ade posters on the walls of my dormittory as a junior boy but walls were well cladded with Steve Wonder, Mc Hammer, Whitney Houston, MJ and so on.

But in Nineteen ninety eight, some upcoming enthusiastic and young Nigerian musicians in Nigeria shot in a track called "omode meta"...and the song caught fire on all campuses...Even the song went round in None Yoruba dominated universities like UNIPORT, UNIBEN etc. No need talking about UNILAG pls...you know what could have happened there. No one knew this was a new wave.... off Western music razzmatazz and into richly, highly processed and redefining music....Gradually, the ire of the tempo for American music celebrally fell. And today, several teenagers dance to Whizkid, DBanj,Tuface same way they will trail Beyonce...They may not even dance Rihanna.

I don't want to talk about the Soccer Genius in Nigerian youths since it shines better on finer pitches after non-distracting trainings.

If there is anything that excites me also about another side of Nigerian creativity, it is the Nigerian Film industry. Its so organic and rich as untapped as it is. It keeps identifying stars and making more daily. The film industry is very productive and has a large audience and market capable of keeping it alive. The truth is I have several white actresses not as good as Genevieve.

I don't want to say I have a Nobel prize winner from Nigeria who with his Ijegba background is teaching Britons English Language. I won't want to boast that my town once produced a WHO deputy director that was so brilliant that his UK Faculty professors in med school in the 50s almost concluded that "all Nigerian students are geniuses. I won't like to say it that I saw videos where Ronaldinho was so dazed at Okocha's slippery dribbles@PSG. I won't tell you that my country owns Philip Emegwali. Pls don't believe that there are royalties on KSA's ingenius guitar tunes.

No matter what, these people has proved to you and me that right inside that hawking girl on the streets of Rumuokoro, Totoro, Uselu is a genius that is craving audience and waiting if well explored to provide answers to the everlasting questions of Harvard Reasearch Professors. Right inside that almajiri boy is an Ibrahim Gambari.

Let them go ahead and legalise Marihuana in all states but I know that one day, some one will produce a moinmoin making machine in Nigeria that will reduce the cooking stress of the Nigerian woman. Let them go ahead and turn pornography into a University course...all I know is one day, cars will be mass produced in Abeokuta. Permit them to remove anything God from their equation but I know that one day, Aba will produce clothes finer, more cosmopolitan and more internationally acceptable than Nike. If they even like, let them have their first Gay president. All I know is one day, Italy will come to Kano for belts and not leathers. Beverages will go out of Apapa wharf to Europe and not Cocoa.

Something will happen one day. Take it!

We shall follow God, Sense and Book in that order.

".....But a grave voice answers me
Impetuous child that tree,
young and strong
That tree over there
Splendidly alone amidst white and faded flowers
That is your Africa springing up anew
Springing up patiently, obstinately
Whose fruit bit by bit acquires
The bitter taste of liberty"- David Diop
