The two veritable takeaways for GEJ in this exercise are:

1. NGF powers and organisation has been brutally whittled.
2. GEJ now knows exactly where to apply "Loyalty medications"

Either way, its a win win. It wouldn't have mattered more if Jang won narrowly like Amaechi.

Let's think about this, now let's remove all d opposition Governors dat voted 4 Amaechi because dey won't participate in PDP convention 2 select d Presidential Candidate. If u count d few PDP Governors dat supported Amaechi how wil dat win d GEJ PDP Governors dat r supporting him 4 re-election. The PDP Governors dat r supporting GEJ is more compare wit dos againt him, so its stil difficult 4 Amaechi 2 excel under PDP Governor in determing GEJ re-election. That's my calculation!

[quote author=dulphines]What we need to know is that Jonah Jang who happens to be Amaechi's oponent voted for Amaechi. If Akpabio is curious about the 3 missing votes, he should ask Jonah Jang and his brothers.

First, it was Shema, next it was Yuguda, and at the last minute, Jonah Jang. Three names from one camp contesting an office. How did they expect to win. They simply were confused, that's why they lost. Amaechi's camp was more organised and knew what they wanted. That's why they won. If they are aggrieved, as they usually say to others, let them go to court to prove there was rigging in a 35 man election, rather than threaten to break away. Amaechi will still floor them there.

chris51: This simply shows that PDP is now in disarray. Some of their governors must have voted for Amaechi. This is a sign of surprises that will be witnessed in 2015. PDP was ready to destroy Rivers state because of petti politics. I know the insecurity in Rivers state before Rotimi got their. GEJ & his PDP should allow peace to reign in Rivers state.
As for bootlicker Akpobio, nemesis will soon catch up with him. His 2nd teure as governor will soon be over, let's see where he will go from there.
PDP gov forum & governors forum of the whole country. Which is bigger?pdp is sore loser. Pdp is just a party & not the nation.
Big lesson for so called pdp big wigs to learn. The whole intrigue is very interesting
Learner like u.See when it comes to the presidential election all governors from the ss ,sw and part of the north wud vote enmasse for GEJ.So dont use this rigged NGF election as a yard stick to judge the outcome of 2015 elections.Buhari wud be on his own

Now, Akpabio, Obi, Mimiko( who just won an electoral tribunal case wherein he never defended any of the allegations against him but rather added Kaka'n, the panel chair, to his league of defence counsels) believe an election involving just 36 of their fellows was rigged while they insist they never rigged their re-elections involving well over 500,000 voters in their respective states. Wonders never end. Nigeria will find it very difficult to stop amusing the rest of the world. What a big laughing butt on African continent.

This sorry episode is a timely reminder that we are ruled by people who are unashamedly obstinate, irredeemably dishonest, and wholesomely anti-democratic.

What wrong would any objective commentator possibly find in the account provided below?

One of the governors disclosed that Mr. Jonathan’s camp came to today’s meeting confident that they would prevail, since the president had obtained signatures from several governors in advance. But the president’s gubernatorial opponents said they knew Mr. Jang would be vanquished as the election, which was conducted by the secretariat of the Governors’ Forum, began. The forum’s director-general, Ashishana Okauru, was the presiding officer at the election with Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State serving as the returning officer. Pro-Amaechi governors said they were certain of their candidate’s victory since the election was conducted via a secret ballot. “It was free and fair, so we knew that Chibuike [Amaechi] would win,” said one of the governors from the south-west.

After the voting, Governor Uduaghan announced the results, declaring Mr. Amaechi victorious. “All 35 governors present cast their vote and the tally was 19-16 in favor of Governor Amaechi,” one of the governors said. He dismissed Mr. Akpabio’s list of 19 governors for Mr. Jang, laughing that the Akpabio group even included the name of the Yobe governor who was not present at today’s vote.

It remained unclear whether the Presidency would succeed in pressuring Mr. Uduaghan to back away from the results he collated and announced at the governors’ parley.

One of the pro-Amaechi governors told SaharaReporters that Mr. Jang’s candidacy was “technically flawed, but we allowed him to run for the sake of peace.” According to him, observance of the forum’s constitution would mean that the picking of nomination forms ought to have ended by midnight on May 23, 2013. He claimed that Governor Jang only sent in a letter indicating his interest in the race around 3 p.m. on May 24, 2013. “It was a breach of our constitution, but Governor Amaechi and some of us decided not to push for Jang’s disqualification,” said the governor.

Amechi is now the deluded POLITICAL LEADER OF HAUSA/FULANI, & THE ISLAMIC FACTION OF THE YORUBA NATIONS. Great achievement for a minority southern Nigerian. After betraying his mentor Dr Peter Odili, Amechi has now mindlessly betrayed all southern Nigerians to the Hausa/fulani that assume they are born-to-ruin Nigeria. Amechi has never been a political leader of his Ikwerre Nation, and they may not follow his alliance with unreliable IBB & co. How will the Rivers State PDP responds to all this? Atiku tried it in 2007 and Adamawa State PDP shooed him away into political oblivion via ACN. Amechi may choose to go, ALONE like Atiku, through APC. There will be no one to betray hereafter.

Akpabio and gej team rejected the result does not mean that pdp governors rejected it, akpabio and gej made the governors to sign a document a day before the election but the pdp governors voted for who they really wanted not the recommendation of a trainee presiden and akpabio a bloddy lier that can call and argue publicly. You have a point, but I think it's a bit tricky because the election was conducted through a secret ballot (why, by the way, makes it plausible that subtle manipulation of votes could have taken place). I hppe the (PDP) governors can all come out to declare their individual positions and who they voted for. In any case, I agree this is hardly a dent on Jonathan's stature, let alone on his re-election aspiration.

who is anti-south and pro north among these?

1. Those(GEJ, Apkabio, Mimiko, Obi) insisting that a northerner(Jonah Jang, Isah Yuguda or Shema) must be elected as the new chairman of NGF or,

2. Those insisting a south south man remains in his position?

Those condemning this post need a lesson in comprehension. The post is asking "if 36 individuals who claim to be leaders in a country of millions cannot conduct a simple exercise such as electing a leader "first among equals" among themselves, how then can they guarantee the masses that they will be able to do justice to the millions that will be voting in 2015?"
And some people are talking trash about the poster, someone even called it sarcasm.....SMH.
No wonder it is easy to confuse the masses with some Ambigous statement during election period.

Why r dos bottom-licker Govs whining now afta dey were beaten to dia own game in an election u duly participated in,voted?

Its an height of olympian hypocrisy 2 av gone 2ru d process wtout an iota of protest frm u only 2 now resort 2 cry-baby attitudes cos it ddnt favour u

Dos who r saying d NGF dos nt carry weight in d scheme of tyns in PDP r just tryn 2 deny d obvious

Who controls d delegates 2d National Convention, who nominates pipo in2 ministerial posts, board, parastatals etc The Govs

GEJ hd beta thread softly cos election year is coming

I am quite amazed that Akpabio does not seem to know that there is a difference between "Endorsement" and "Election".

He has been parading an endorsement sheet as if that was what was used for an election he participated in. This goes to show the kind of people that have been saddled with leadership in Nigeria and explains why we are still where we are.
