He can do it" was many observers' comment when Babatunde Fashola took up a challenging new mission to transform Lagos into Africa's model of governance. Babatunde Fashola is the youngest Governor of Lagos State in the history of Nigeria and a Senior Advocate by profession. He is the 13th Governor of the State and first Senior Advocate of Nigeria to hold office as Governor in Nigeria. He governs a state that is probably Africa’s largest city with over 22 million people.

Fashiola has demonstrated top disciplined, tough and resolute qualities in front of difficulties and critics. ''There is no one above the law in the state. People who are not prepared to obey our laws should leave the state. There is no society where laws are not broken, but the state government would continue to increase its enforcement so that there will be high level of compliance,’’ he said after arresting a policeman for violating 'The state Traffic Law' that prohibits the operations of motorcycles and tricycles on Lagos/Abeokuta Express road and other metropolis.

Re-elected 2011 with 81 percent of the vote, Fashola is courting residents and investors by building roads, an urban railway, bridges and hospitals. Hotels such as Sheraton and Radisson have expanded their operations in Lagos since Fashola took office in 2007. Shoprite, Massmart and car manufacturers have also taken advantage of his good governance.

There seems to be a high amount of oil on his face. What is this all about?
When will he build the second Niger Bridge?

LOL...obviously you are spoiling for a tribalistic snafu meant for gutter creatures like you from your enclaves! grin grin You can see oil on his face!?? shocked shocked What a revelation! Even your fathers and grandfathers planted, grew, harvested and sold palm oil and kernels to send your father to school, maybe because the denigration of your father's trade is what landed you on the streets of Ladipo selling spare parts?? wink grin grin tongue Tough luck for you but it's only bastards that denigrate the arts and cultures of their fathers! Go figure! grin grin Meanwhile, the bridge is a possibility under the right circumstances but will Ibos rather not cut off their noses to spite their face? Rather than enjoy a good life brought about by solid and purposeful leadership from a non-ibo they would rather die than see it! How will they keep up the tired lies and facade that they are jews and the best thing to happen to the world if the simplest things are done for them by the Yoruba people of the South West??

When will Igbos build the Second Niger Bridge??

What does the Second Niger bridge have to do with Lagos, the SW, or the Yorubas anyway?

Back on topic - I wonder what Fashola is planning to do in 2015? He can't be Governor anymore, and if Tinubu can't get him to be the APC candidate for Presido what is going to happen to this talented man?

Anyone have any idea?

Fashola is the very epitome of how not to govern the most populous and richest state in the black world. Akpabio is light years ahead of him. Akpabio built an international class airport from scratch in two years flat, without waiting for so called PPP or "private investors". He just went ahead and used state funds. The result, after spending just N42b of his state funds, is amazing. Uyo International airport is COMPLETELY state-owned, and has the second largest hangar in Africa already, and they havent even finished. Fashola and his master, Bola Tinubu, have been promising Lagosians an airport since 1999. 14 years on, and there's nothing to show for their empty promises and shallow noise.

The tolls paid by Lekki residents for that sub-standard and uncompleted Lekki Epe expressway are just criminal. Akwa Ibom has the best roads in Nigeria, and there is no single toll gate in the city, except at the airport, and I hear it's just N100!

The "schools" in Lagos are a disgrace to the very concept of education and are too few. Akwa Ibom seems to have a school in every square km!! It's just amazing. Make I go baff jare. Going to Ikot Ekpene later.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Last time I checked there were 3 million people in Akwa Ibom and 20 million in Lagos.

For tribal reasons, Akwa Ibom has the highest Federal Allocation in the country. Yes, Akwa Ibom gets more money from the FG than Lagos even though Lagos has about 7x the amount of people in it. The little bit you do with all that "cake" is nothing to be proud of.

Lagos is in a completely different league than Akwa Ibom. While that state relies on the FG and SS oil to survive, Lagos derives 70% of its revenue from internal sources like taxes and tolls. It is the commercial capital of Nigeria and West Africa. Everybody must go to Lagos to chop.

You are comparing a small backwards village with a state that has the same GDP and population as Ghana. Don't make me laugh.

There are probably more Igbos living in Lagos than are living in Akwa Ibom.

That in bold is not a probability ...rather a statement of fact. None of them have ever achieved real greatness and success without first coming to cut their teeth here in Lagos.

Am sure there are more students from wherever you come from in those schools in Lagos than any other school in your state. The sad thing is you people with all your bad belle ism look up to Lagos for direction in everything you want in life.
