@ all men on the thread
all you men claiming natural, you dont know that 'natural' requires work too. No one was born with feet or hands that don't need manicuring or hair that doesn't require attention. I hardly use make up and hardly wear weaves but its still an effort to keep those things God blessed me with looking good! Clear skin for me is an effort as I am blemish prone, although I dont wear weaves often I retouch and wash and set regularly. Unwanted body hair needs to be waxed and the list goes on and on and on. Natural doesnt mean no effort. You guys need to appreciate more

wrt to skincare tips, u havnt said what state your skin is in and what your complexion is.
Regardless of what your complexion is tho, u can use things with alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) if u hav sun damaged skin but no break outs and beta hydroxy acids (BHA) if u are prone to breakouts,,, AHA and BHA are exfoliants derived from fruit and milk sugars such as glycolic acid produced from sugar cane and lactic acid produced from milk, they have a gentle exfoliating action that allows the dead skin cells to fall off and exposing newer clearer skin cells to give the flawless look. Mind u have to use sunscreen with strength SPF 15 or more so sun damage does not re-occur.
there is also a very good oil (can't remember d name) i used to buy it at yaba market. its in a tiny bottle, reddish liquid and used to be sold for N60 per bottle i used to by a whole pack of 12 for N600. when i remember the name, I'll update the thread,,, (or u can ask at the market, I'm sure someone would recognise it). anyways u can use it straight or mix it in your cream, it smells nice and helps increase the rate of skin cell renewal, also helps against blemishes and reduces sun damage, to give u that glow.
Alternatively Bio-Oil is quite good, only started using it myself so i can't swear by it tho. it costs about £20 for d small bottle and i know its sold at one of those cosmetic stores at the palms.
unfortunately i havnt lived in lagos for a while so i can't be much help with where 2 go for your spa treatments
however i used to visit RUTHIES at Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja Lagos, they do facials and spa treatments as well as bridals
don't knw what their services are like now but they used to be pretty good,,,
alternatively there are loads of spa's in V/I, i know i saw alot of bill boards for them on my last visit,,,

lol it's good 4 woman 2 hav tyme 4 dere self
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by aysometin(f): 10:46am On May 08, 2008
I am really grateful for your comments.
I am dark skinned and dont experience break outs, but my skin colour is not uniform though I have a close to smooth face. Can u please specify products that contain (AHA) and products with SPF 15. I presently use a scrub used as spa that I got from Next in December and Marykay facial cleanser together.
I use Dove soap and jergens cream.
I will be grateful if you remember the name of the oil so I can start using it. And then Yaba market is upside down now, cant dream of going there,, I will try other markets once u remember the name.
Adeniyi Jones is so very close to my crib, so I will check out the place soon and ask them the routine I have to go through till that day.
Spas in VI, thats all my salary o, lol
Thanx my dear anyways.
More help sistas out there.
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 11:04am On May 08, 2008
I cld specify products but i dont knw if u'll find them in Nigeria,,,
I did use vaseline intensive toning cream with AHA but i remember i cld no longer find it in the market, d only other one i can think of is black opal lotion with AHA,,, cant think of anymore right now but if i do I'll update the thread,,,,
cant remember d name of the oil for the life of me but I'll ask around to see if anyone here can remember it.
alternatively,,, try using clarins,,, its a bit pricey tho but ur wedding only comes once right?
they have really good sunscreens and skin clarifying treatments with AHA. mind u dont get the skin lighteners tho, so u dont mess with ur natural complexion.
there is a place that does facials at ojuelegba,,, cant give u an address tho cuz i've never been, my friend is always talking about it and i think it costs sumthin between N3000 - N6000 (cant swear by that tho). try askin around at the salons in that area, i hear its quite popular so it shd be pretty easy to find

Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 3:46pm On May 08, 2008
Just remembered d name of that oil,
Its Secret Oil, used to cost me N60 cld be abit more now,,,
very effective, completely natural
like I said, u can mix it in your lotion or use it straight (u might need to by loads as d bottle is really tiny)
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by tyna1(f): 5:54pm On May 08, 2008
secret oil yes i know that one used it back then when i was in 9ja.
I buy clothes and shoes at any chance i get
the most expensive i have done so far was buying a louis vutton bag
that i haven't used since new year eve that is the very day that i bought it,
things we do to look pretty.
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 5:57pm On May 08, 2008
i bought a really expensive pair of PRADA shoes on a trip to new york
I wore it only once,,, fear no let me wear am again make e no go spoil,,,LOL
I think its more of an ornament in my wardrobe now, just sitting there making a statement
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by bunmii(f): 6:01pm On May 08, 2008
i can totally relate to that, there are so many things in my wardrobe that i just look at, my friends will say so why did you buy it, i'll be like you just don't understand lol
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by Ajebota(f): 7:34pm On May 08, 2008
Thank you thank you, yes you should give honour to whom honour is due.
There are some spas in Victoria Island like Veni Vici, Montagne spa, Nail studio etc. You can go there and have facials, manicures and pedicures. As for looking good on your wedding day, I would say drink 2L of water everyday, buy a good chemical exfoliator like HR Hotness suggested or go for weekly facials at one of the day spas around. Will get back to you on the colonic irrigation. There is a place in Ikeja that does it.
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by Ajebota(f): 7:39pm On May 08, 2008
Hmmn been there done that. I changed my mind on the whole coloured contacts thing, just a bit too artificial for me. But rock on sis
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 7:52pm On May 08, 2008
i had to start wearing coloured contacts becos i kept loosing the clear ones (cant see d darn things when they drop)
I admit the colours looked too unnatural
i found a shade of gray that looks good tho,,, people still dont believe those arent my eye colour even when i tell them i'm wearing contacts
so when u getting the laser thing done?
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by Ajebota(f): 8:04pm On May 08, 2008
lol. Either your are light skinned or the people are a bit thick
hmmn no idea just yet. Will probably wait a year or 2 and make sure i want to go ahead with the procedure. The optician said optimal age for getting the surgery done is about my age so will wait a bit. The story about your colleague has also added to my fear. My eyesight might not be perfect but i still love having eyes!
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by Ajebota(f): 8:35pm On May 08, 2008
@ all colonic lovers
Veni vici does colonics and the Ikeja 1 is 'the colonic centre' 89 Adeniyi Jones ave. Happy bowel movements!!
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 9:12pm On May 08, 2008

HR Hotness and Ajebota,
HR htoness, i went into a store yesterday and saw bio oil for N2200 but now that you remember the name of the other one- secret oil!
which one do you recommend I have also decided to buy Mary Kay 3 in 1 cleansing soap and the age fighting mosturiser, then buy palmers success cream and mix with any of the oil you recommend above and of course take losts of water. Awaiting your reply sister.
Ajebota if i have to do colonic irrigation, that means I have to stay off work rite
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 9:51am On May 09, 2008
Bio oil (suprisingly cheap) was made by oyibo pple so faced with a choice i'll always go for secret oil,,, i've used it and it works,,, I used it straight and it got rid of my blemishs plus it also helps protect u from the sun.
Is palmers success the same as skin success? if it is mind that u buy the original, i've never used it but i've heard loads of compliants that there are fakes,,, had a discussion with my girls and neutrogena products are highly recommended, also clarins,,,
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by aysometin(f): 10:57am On May 09, 2008
Thanx HR H
It was here on another thread I got to know about Palmer's success o, so scary, Don't know if there is clarins in Naija o, will have to check or try neutrogina and am so glad u chose secret oil, u know its cheaper, lol
Looks like u dont like MARY K products , u seem to love clarins so much?
Anyways thanx, sure with all these, I will be a glowing bride.
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by HRhotness(f): 11:47am On May 09, 2008
Yes i love clarins (u got me),,,
like i said its a bit pricey but i know for certain it works, i've used it and i know pple who have used it as well, plus it seems to work well in the nigerian weather. the problem with many products is that they arent effective in the nigerian weather,,,,
not that i dont like Mary Kay, hav never used it so i dont hav an opinion
ultimately its ur decison,,,, good luck
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by aysometin(f): 12:41pm On May 09, 2008

Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by Ajebota(f): 3:28pm On May 09, 2008
nah mehn you dont have to stay off doing anything. why would you say so? It does put too much stress on you, you just need to take it easy, no strenous exercise and no heavy meals,
Re: How Far Would You Go To Look Beautiful? by aysometin(f): 3:57pm On May 09, 2008
