And this is the inspiration for both the Nigerian and Canadian coats of arms (most commonwealth countries have something similar).

The Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom (this is the Scottish version). Both Nigeria and Canada were colonised by the UK.

One thing is inherently constant from this pictorial history of Nigeria- It shows how divergent our humble beginning has always been;the diversities along protectorates, tribes and ethnics, and even along warring kingdoms.

The challenges of our forceful union has of today notwithstanding, I have a feeling that our rich history will always vindicate our present and give us hope about a better future as one Strong,United and Indivisible Entity called Nigeria.

History-please bear witness to my own little contribution.

Thanks OP!

Tony Spike:

Certainly, there were elephants in Yorubaland back in those days. I'm sure they quickly became extinct because of their Ivory. The elephant ivory was a symbol of status back then, just like that of the Rhinoceros today.

Interesting, Tony Tone.

It seems the ivory carving thing was predominant in Ife, other areas bordering Bini(or are tributaries to Bini empire), and Bini empire. Can you shed more light on that, bro.
