Adulphus:

YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR FINANCIALS, KNOW YOUR COMPETITORS, YOUR MARKET AND MARKET STRATEGY. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH AND BE ABLE TO CONVINCE THEM. THERE ARE 52 PANELIST DIVIDED BY 13 PANELS = 4, SO YOU WILL BE FACED TO DEFEND YOUR PLAN IN THE PRESENCE OF 4 PANELIST. FOR THOSE GOING TO ENUGU, PANEL 11 IS VERY FAIR AND THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE.

BELOW WAS HOW I BROKE MY FINANCIAL ANALYSIS:
Hi. How much money do you need to implement your business? ii. How will you fund the business? iii. What will the funds be used for? iv. How and/or when will the business make profit? [100 words] Please show a summary of the breakeven analysis.
i. Total Capital = N11,000,000
ii. YouWIN Grant and Family
iii. Capital Cost = 4,400,000 including: The Cost of Machineries = 3,400,000naira
The Cost of Office Equipment and furniture= 300,000 naira
The Cost of Vehicle = 700,000naira

Operating Expenses = 3,300,000
Indirect Cost = 1,820,000
Miscellaneous = 1,480,000
iv. My Business will make profit after month 11 of the Grant Award.

Breakeven Analysis: [NB: 1 unit of my product is sold at 2,700 naira]
BEP in Units = Fixed Cost/Contribution
Fixed Cost = Capital Cost + Indirect Cost + Depreciation
Depreciation = Capital Cost/10years = 4,400,000/10 = 440,000
Fixed Cost = 4,400,000 +1,820,000 + 440,000 = 6,660,000
Contribution = Sales Price – Variable Cost = 2,700 – 1,200 = 1,500
Therefore, my Breakeven Point in Units = 6,660,000/1,500 = 4,440Units
BEP in Naira = 4,440 x 2,700 = 11,988,000
11,988,000/1,100,000 = 10.9 = 11months

ONCE AGAIN KNOW YOUR FINANCIALS BECAUSE THEY WILL ASK YOU HOW YOU WILL SPEND THE MONEY (FINANCIAL PRUDENCY)
GOOOOD LUCK

Nice one but if I counted correctly that's 142 words and I think the BEP' is overrated, what I know is; 'total sales income=total operational cost' at BEP.

11,988,000/1,100,000 = 10.9 = 11months
On this line where did 1,100,000 comes from please share light on it
Re: Youwin Business Competition 2013 by chukwuka12: 7:32am On Aug 14, 2014
@Aofete, from his analysis, although he didn't state it, he produces about 407 units per month, he sells at 2700, therefore 2700*407=1,100,000

I would have just done 4440/407= 11 months.

(My thinking please)
Re: Youwin Business Competition 2013 by aofete: 7:56am On Aug 14, 2014
Please show how you got 407 units per month in calculation
Re: Youwin Business Competition 2013 by chukwuka12: 11:26am On Aug 14, 2014
Divide 1,100,000 by the price which 2,700= 407

i would advise you go with a device that can run your software if it is fully designed or the schematics.

you can aslo go with a laptop....remember it is a prsentation to 4 people. a projector might not be feasible. ...my assumptions.

You guys talking about theft of ideas are just funny, no offense. I can't remember anyone asking for another person's idea since this thread was started up. If you take a step back and look at what's causing this controversy, it's because someone simply asked how the interview went. I'm pretty sure the guy that shared his experience above didn't do away with his business idea, and hasn't in anyway jeopardized his chances. So what are we talking about?!
Have you done your presentation?

Haven't done my interview but here's my take on your issue:

- Go with the tax clearance of the previous business.

- Don't know if different businesses owned by the same owner need different TINs (Tax Identification Number) If so, get the TIN for the new business.

- Then go explain the situation to them.

I guess you should be covered with this strategy. All the best.

Mine is in Abuja too 28th.

blink182: Have you done your presentation?

Not yet chief. Mine is exactly 2 weeks from today! 3:00 - 3:40 pm.

Thanks for the concern.

I think it's not all that necessary. Just go with your CAC certificate. I even had mine without certificate or clearance because it wasn't ready.

In calculation, you don't just introduce a variable without an origin. 407 is not the monthly production from my calculation, somebody should look at it and say something
chukwuka12: @Aofete, from his analysis, although he didn't state it, he produces about 407 units per month, he sells at 2700, therefore 2700*407=1,100,000

I think he is correct, capital cost is a part of fixed cost. It is cost you take on once while setting up the business. Abi?

I think its not proper to include capital and at the same time depriciation as part of FC. It will seriously affect your break even analysis and its like double charging. The best thing is to charge depriciation at appropriate rate of 10, 15 or 20 percent depending on d rate of usage. My tot, understanding and opinion though
