I think its not proper to include capital and at the same time depriciation as part of FC. It will seriously affect your break even analysis and its like double charging. The best thing is to charge depriciation at appropriate rate of 10, 15 or 20 percent depending on d rate of usage. My tot, understanding and opinion though
this break even point seems to be a wide topic because a lady has even shared a different way here earlier on this thread.

Nice one but if I counted correctly that's 142 words and I think the BEP' is overrated, what I know is; 'total sales income=total operational cost' at BEP.
Re: Youwin Business Competition 2013 by drogba(m): 11:28am On Aug 15, 2014
your total fixed cost for calculating BEP is already auto calculated in the profit and loss sheet. that is indirect cost for the year. Capex is not part of BEP calculation but used for ROCE or ROI.

You are right. With depreciation, u have already accounted for the cost of the capital asset u utilized. No need to include capital cost again because u could still resell ur asset at a price less the depreciation amount. Anyways, I don't think they will pay much attention to the analysis at this stage. I believe this stage is just to have a fair understanding of the capability of the applicant to run the business.

Seems so, but, still good to be prepared incase of surprises.

Good to be back. I thank God for a successful interview. I'd advice against over-hype, and be frank. The panel is their to test your genuiety. Pray for favor too. I was only asked why I feel I can manage my business and how to market my products. No questions about my finances at all. I give God the Glory. Wish you all the best.

Enugu center is around 700 people. Interview days 1-6. There is d possibility of cash reduction, and disqualification. A lady had issues cos she had many names on her different documents. She was asked to go swear an affidavit. I also over-heard one of the interviewers complaining of a candidate saying he intends to buy feed and sell. That how will such a business add value and create jobs. However if you can sell your proposed business properly no one will deny you your grant.

700 people at Enugu centre alone?! When we still have Lagos and Abuja centres?! Assuming we multiply dat by 3 centres, dat's 2100. Oh God, come see us through!

The money needed to implement this business is N7,451,400.

Total fixed cost = N 2,881,208

Price per unit = N150

Cost per unit =N 92

Total revenue = N17,130,000

Total cost = N10,506,400

Contribution margin = N17,130,000 - N10,506,400
= N6,623,600

Contribution margin ratio = contributions margin ÷ revenue
= N6,623,600 ÷ N17,130,000

= 0.3866667

Break-even (amount) = Fixed cost ÷ contribution margin ratio

= N2,881,208 ÷ 0.3866667

= N7,451,399.

Break-even (units) = Break-even amount ÷ cost per unit

= N7,451,399 ÷ N150

= 49,676 units

Alternatively ;

Breakeven (units) = fixed cost / contribution

= N2,881,208 / (150 - 92)

= 2,881,208 / 58

= 49,676 units.

Break-even (Amount ) = Break even units × price per unit

= 49,676 × 150

= N7,451,400

Going into any business requires addressing a need. The ever increasing demand for new residential, office building to accommodate people has created a high demand for quality blocks. As a result of this demand a huge market gap has been created for possible exploitation by Yadunba blocks.
Apart from my passion for the business, i have been involved in the businee from child hood because my father is a veteran in the industry. So its like turning an interest or hobby into a busines.
Our products have the following as an advantage;
- The quality and strength differentiation, cost effectiveness and versatility, appearance of our products separate us from the competition and will propel demand as we ramp up our marketing strategies.
- Our core competency is the intellectual properties within the industry that are innovative will help our industry distinguish our block from its rivals as well as reduced its cost

what u shld do now is let me know
1, ur total fixed cost
2, how much u need in total ( youwin and personal savings) to run your business
3, total sales that is revenue for the whole year
4, total cost (cost of production) for the whole year
I will use the first formulae to get your break even amount.

COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE FROM ENUGU CENTRE:
IT IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD THAT, NOT ALL D SHORTLISTED APPLICANT WILL SCALE THROUGH AND EVEN IF U ARE LUCKY TO SCALE, NOT ALL THE REQUESTED FUNDS WOULD BE GRANTED 100% AS MANY MAIGHT HAVE A REDUCTION DEPENDING ON THEIR DEFENCE ACCURACY. IT CELAR THAT, THOSE PANELISTS ARE HIGHLY EXPERT IN ALMOST ALL THE BUSINESS ASPECT U MAY THINK UP, eg SUPPLIES, PURCHASES, EXPENDITURE ETC. HOWEVER D FOLLNG ARE THE VITAL HINTS FOR UR ENCOUNTER:
1. Go with all ur ducuments necessary to back up ur claim.
2. Make sure all d costs and expanses are genuenly stated. Atimes they even make phone calls to ascertain ur staments
3. Maintain consistency and provide all d evidences u cited as ur management experience eg work shop, proficiency etc.
4. U have to coherently know ur market plan, strategies and competitors
5. PRAY AS MUCH AS U CAN AND LEAVE D REST FOR GOD WILL SEE U THROUGH.

We wsh u d bst!
