Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi has sacked Dr. Paul Okorie, the Commissioner for Environment, for alleged acts inconsistent with his official mandate.

A statement released by Chike Onwe, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, on Thursday in Abakaliki, directed Okorie to handover all government documents and property in his possession to the ministry’s permanent secretary.

“The removal takes effect from Wednesday, August 7, 2013, as he ceases to be a member of the State Executive Council,” the statement read.
It stated that the decision to remove Okorie, who was also the Commissioner for Works and Transport in the state from 2007-2011, was reached during the council meeting on Wednesday.

The governor, on July 13, 2013, also sacked Dr. Nora Aloh, his Personal Assistant on Primary Health.
Aloh was also removed for alleged acts inconsistent with the mandate of her office.
