TUC Warns Fashola, Obi Not To Create Crisis Over Alleged Deportation by Nobody: 12:20am On Aug 09, 2013 |
THE Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has warned the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola and his counterpart in Anambra State, Peter Obi, not to allow the alleged deportation of some Igbo indigenes to generate to another crisis, especially now that the political terrain is volatile. As a responsible organisation interested in peace and the development of the country, the congress expressed concerned by the daily reports in national dailies on the issue. In a statement signed by the President of the TUC, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama and the Secretary-General, Comrade Musa Lawal, the congress also advised that all alleged detention cells in the state be disbanded and detainees released. The statement read: “The reason why we make this case is that all Nigerians, irrespective of states of origin, have the right to live wherever they feel provided they do not break the statutory law of the land. “As it has been the case, there is hardly any part of the world where you do not have people from different tribes, states and countries living together. Migration did not start today and it may never end. To be conservative with the truth, it will not be an overstatement to say that we have foreigners in their millions currently living in the country. “Already, many people are raising eye-brows over the deportation. For them, no matter what Lagos State government calls it, whether integration, relocation, repatriation or deportation, the fact remains that every Nigerian, be it Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa, has the constitutional right to live anywhere in the country.” The congress stated that they were all Nigerians, whether rich or poor, adding, “it is a known fact that the Igbos, thanks to their enterprising nature, live everywhere in the world and so do Hausas and Yorubas. Lagos, the Centre of Excellence, is no exception.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/item/18632-tuc-warns-fashola,-obi-not-to-create-crisis-over-alleged-deportation.html |

Nigeria we hail thee, Our own dear native land, Though tribe and tongue may differ, In brotherhood we stand, Nigerians all, and proud to serve Our sovereign Motherland. Our flag shall be a symbol That truth and justice reign, In peace or battle honour'd, And this we count as gain, To hand on to our children A banner without stain. O God of all creation, Grant this our one request, Help us to build a nation Where no man is oppressed, And so with peace and plenty Nigeria may be blessed. 1 Like |

This warrants a call for national strike not only when Mr. President is the target. They should come out to condemn what Fashola has done and not to play some politics by bringing Obi into it. |

It is funny how people will support destitute roaming Lagos streets just to spite Fashola. NUT should be ashamed of themselves here, they are allowing political jobbers use their voice ridiculously. 2 Likes |

This insincere guy of a person is very dubious to say the least. Where in the entire warning did they mention Obi? Probably he wants to decieve the mods into bringing it to the frontpage as a balance report. Who doesn't know tribune =PDP. Jobless guy! 1 Like |

The igbo pdp supporters live and invest heavily in lagos and the west generally, the yoruba apc never crosses past Ogun to invest nor are they significantly existent in the SS\SE (aside the oil coys n FG positions which they don't merit in most cases),yet they'd love to Bluetooth APC there. If you want a strong APc presnce there den start dwelling n investin dere. |

aasog1: Did Fashola dump those Ibo scums and beggars himself? Did he drive them to Anambra? Is there proof they were dumped within Anambra at an ungodly hour or just another rubbish propaganda? This was a question someone asked some minutes ago on a radio program im listening to...wonder what all this verosity is for? Answer this question. Were igbo nigerian citizens dumped in the early hours of day in onitsha by the BRF govt? If yes then what has the drver nt bein yorub got 2 do wif nyfin and etc ! I keep reading posts of ppl threatening to openly confront and perhaps drve away igbo from lagos violently, u guys must fink this is 1966.one reason why igbos dnt really retaliate in the north is cos bulk of the almajiris own nuffn so igbos always loose cos they hve investmnts but in lagos - it'll definitely be a lovely battle as both sides would suffer losses. As long as Nigeria stands as 1, igbo ppl own equal rights in lasgidi! I don't undstand how ill buy land and still be called a tenant in my land! igbos have nvr questioned BRF or LASg, what we don't understand is the imposition of non stakeholders on traders and the deportation in ones own country! Plus I must add u yorubz can get pwetty emotional. We need to be more insipid to tribal issues |
