Who Owns Lagos & Who Shall Deport The Other by Redoil: 6:10am On Aug 10, 2013 |
Governors Tinubu and Fashola are all citizen of neighbouring states of Osun and Ekiti and technically should not claim Lagos. **deportee Uchenna's great grand parents came to Lagos in the 1920s as produce sellers. His grandfather, his immediate father and himself were all born in Lagos. **yet Uchenna was arrested for selling on the street, detained in a secret detention camp and cargoed to a State he has never visited before. Lagos was the former Capital of Nigeria and still the commercial capital of the Country. Being the former Federal capital, many Nigerians were posted, transferred or secured a jobs to work in the Federal civil services. Others set up business that was serving the increasing Lagos Population. According to the last census, about 85% of residents of Lagos are either visitors or people who choose to settle in the city through different generation. The question Remains, Who actually owns Lagos. since Gov Fashola deported 72 Igbos from Lagos to Onitsha. The deportees had all been earlier detained in “warehouses” in Lagos and some in the neighbouring Ogun region for months before their deportation to Igboland. Many of the deportees are children and older people and some have disabilities. From records the last two governors of Lagos state are not originally Lagosians, but the 'real owners' accommodated them to the extent of allowing them to vie for elective positions in the state. PROFILE:: 1] Bola Tinubu. *Status: Politician. *State of Origin: Osun state. *Father's State of Birth : Osun state *Position: Former Lagos state Governor. 2] Babatunde Fashola *Status: Politician. *State of Origin: Ekiti state. *Father's State of Birth : Ekiti state *Position: Current Lagos state Governor. 3] Uchenna Amadi *Status: Trader (Roadside). *State of Origin: Lagos state. *Father's State of Birth : Lagos state *Position: Deported To Onitsha. This is where the confusion comes in, in determining the actual owner of Lagos. Governors Tinubu and Fashola are all citizen of neighbouring states of Osun and Ekiti and technically should not claim Lagos. The deportee Uchenna's great grand parents came to Lagos in the 1920s as produce sellers. His grandfather, his immediate father and himself were all born in Lagos, yet he was arrested for selling on the street, detained in a secret detention camp and cargoed to a State he has never visited before. The question remains, who owns Lagos and who should have the right to deport a Nigerian that was born and lived his whole life in a particular state, irrespective of his offence, handicap or health situation? WHO owns Lagos? |

Lolz. So, Uchenna Amadi is from Lagos and Babatunde Fashola is from Ekiti? Where is Uchenna Amadi's family house in Lagos? Posters like the OP are the reason why condoms should be free and abortion legalized. 4 Likes |

If you like keep twisting stories and springing up blatant lies that only fools like you can belief.... Your grandfather settles in Lagos hundred of years ago and you are still selling gala and lacasera on the road side in moving traffic and can't communicate in the Yoruba language. Pathetic liars like Adaobi of Anambra 3 Likes |

You can't be from Lagos and your name will be Uchenna Lagos is historically, economically and politically a Yoruba enclave I would suggest you guys devote energies to developing your region than pushing so hard for what has never been and will never be yours You petitioned the FG and nothing has come out of it You threatened and your ultimatums elapsed and still yet you cowardly kept mute If you know what we did was wrong, you can challenge us in court because as it stands today, we are all under Laws of Nigeria 1 Like |

People should rather concern about developing their region instead of many cries here and there of who owns Lagos. Definitely nigeria will break up one day. |

Yorubest: You can't be from Lagos and your name will be Uchennaand politically a Yoruba enclave I would suggest you guys devote energies to developing your region than pushing so hard for what has never been and will never be yours You petitioned the FG and nothing has come out of it You threatened and your ultimatums elapsed and still yet you cowardly kept mute If you know what we did was wrong, you can challenge us in court because as it stands today, we are all under Laws of Nigeria Firstly, you are wrong about the bolded. If we are to sincerely take a look at the ops write up, we would agree that uchenna is more a Lagosian than fashola or Tinubu. That he doesn't have a good means of income that he can boast of, and the others have, does not make them more Lagosian than him. Remember when Lagos was the capital, resources where taken from his land to develop Lagos as it is of Abuja today. Unless if truely Uchenna can't relate in any other Language apart from igbo. That would likely make his story false. This issue is a sensitive one, and can really determine the next phase of planning by the federal government. Let us tread, with our brains. Obama would never have been deported back to Kenya if he was a miscreant. 1 Like |

I thought you Ibos have learnt your lessons during the last civil war, but alas, I was wrong. You lost everything both human and material that you had in Nigeria from the North to the West and only got 200 pounds. You ought to learn from your fathers' mistakes, but you never will. Now you have started again, come on; bring it on; start another war; from the internet to the street and see if there will be any tribe called Ibo or Igbo or Biafra again. The few hundreds of you that will remain will probably be in Israel where you claim its your root and the Arabs will be waiting for you with their bombs because there is no peace (or piss) for the wicked, obedience is better than sacrifice. I just feel bad for you because I have meet some really really good Ibos even on Nairaland; but majority of you are still living because it is illegal to kill and you are yet to declare another unprepared war so that we (Yoruba/Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri/Igbira/Gwari/Edo e.t.c. including the Fulani cattle rearers) shall wipe you off the planet. You own Lagos ko, your father own Lagos ni. That was how some nonentity Ibos contested election as Lagos State Governor sometimes ago and could not even get up to 5,000 votes out of your so called 40% Ibo population in Lagos. Your handshake is extending beyond the elbow; it is now becoming wrestling and we are ready for you. |
