Wow, I'm so sorry to hear this. According to all the research I've done, there really isn't much you can do. Take it to a Samsung service centre and have them look at it. It'll cost you no doubt but not as much as having to buy a new one.
Thx man

thx. It was a gift...i think it was that mtn offer since i saw their seal and sim pack in it. is there going to be a warranty on it? been using it since april

Did you register it with Samsung after you got it? If you didn't you won't be able to make a claim

febbymi:
U needn't get worried over the eMMC check thing though that doesnt mean nt paying attention sha. If ur phone is nt from the uk, chances are u'll survive. My friends note2 died 2day despite having the oxf7 firmware and a sane chip. Shes going 4 a claim 2mao so will update

I'm eagerly waiting for your update. A lot of factors could lead to a phone dying. But an "insane" chip is a clear indication of a defective device. Let's not give each other false hope.
Re: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Owners Meet Here... by Nobody: 9:53am On Sep 13, 2013
Not all insane chips will eventually brick. ..its a 50 50 thing ...ur luck if urs bricks. ...on the other hand not all sane chips will not brick...still a 50 50 thing...there's nothing u can do about it...keep a minimum of 2gb free on ur sd .....be on 4.1.2 ...stop flashing roms here n there. ..dont overuse ur fone. ..and u might just be lucky

opisco01: Pls hw cn I upgrade to android 4.3 on my note 2

For now, only by installing a ROM. 4.3 is not yet officially available on the Note 2

Short of flashing the wrong ROM or the wrong kernel, there is no way you can brick a phone. Phones with a bad chip in them will die the same way a PC is affected by bad chips. PC's differ in that mostly you can change memory and processor yourself. Much harder with a phone without SPECIALIST tools.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Owners Meet Here... by calabaman(m): 12:32pm On Sep 13, 2013
Hello all,
Am tired of my blackberry bold 9900 and want to migrate to the android family. I have fallen in L♥√ع with two android phones in particular: SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 and SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2.
Here is the kicker, I want to spend not more than 64k on either of em. So given the option btw A UK USED SGN2 or A BRAND NEW SGS3. Which do you advise mε to go for?
Putting into consideration the sudden death syndrome the SGN2 is prone to?
#no insults pls

Doesnt work dat way even wiv warranty. You just dont take ur phone to sammy care unless sumtin is actually wrong wiv it and for the fact that theres been no official statement 4rm sammy says a lot, u cant just go there an say my phone has an insane chip

did u read wat febbymi said about her friend's fone? It showed sane chip buh still bricked...note2 is simply an issue carrying fone...sane or insane. ..it all depends on ur luck and how u use ur fone. ....@febbymi any idea what jellybean d fone was running on?? 4.04..4.11 or 4.1.2

Just update it and you are safe. sds is a loop hole in the device. Just update it.

Good idea and a better idea is to be wary of where u buy the 'brand new one' from. I wont mention names but am sure someone on this thread can testify that not all brand new is in fact brand new. just saying

To update your note2 go to androidadvices.com and click on note2. CHOSE the latest firmware.

Whatever you do, don't do a factory reset before you update your phone, factory reset is said to trigger sds.

There really is no way to know! Your best bet is to try and make sure you get a late model. Try and verify that date of manufacture is at least November 2012. Also if it's running Android 4.1.2.
