The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, has ordered the redeployment of 14 commissioners of police with a charge to them to step up thefight against crime.


The newly appointed commissioners have also been charged to improve on the cordial relationship among sister security agencies in their respective beats, to ensure that criminal activities are reduced.
Similarly, the IGP has also ordered six Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), and 13 commissioners of police to proceed on a leadership and strategic management course to equip them with the requisite leadership and management skills.
Abubakar, who made this known in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, equally charged them to ensure that officers and men under their supervision are mindful of the rights of the citizenry, while cultivating the trust and confidence of the public in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.
Under the arrangement, CP Lawal Tanko is now the Commissioner of Police in charge of Borno State, while CP Ibrahim Ahmed, has been redeployed to Zamfara, CP Hilary Okpara,is now in charge of Bayelsa, while CP Maigari Dikko, is the new CP for Ebonyi State.
Others are Adebayo Ajeleye, CP Inspectorate “E” Department, Force Headquarters, Adeola Adeniji, CP Border Patrol, Waheed O. Salah, CP, Airport, Markus Danladi, Commandant, Police College, Maiduguri, Toye Ebitibituwa, CO training, “E” Dept, FHQ, Hyacinth Dagala, deputy commandant, Police College, Kano, Lawal Shehu, CP Admin “E” Dept, FHQ, IbrahimAdamu, deputy, Force Secretary, Abdul Danwawu, CP Armament and CP Salisu Abdulahi, CP “X-Squad.
All the appointments, according to the statement signed by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, are with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, there was panic in Rivers State Police Command yesterday, over what many referred to as massive transfer of police officers out of the state.
Those allegedly affected by the transfer wereofficers attached to the Government House and others believed to be loyal to the government of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
When Daily Sun visited the State Police Command, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, yesterday, officers and men were seen discussing the mass transfer in groups.
Some of them, who spoke to Daily Sun on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that some senior officers were really transferred out of the state. They said they were yet to confirmthe names of those affected by the transfer.
