IBADAN — NO feawer than eleven herdsmen have been killed in the last six weeks in some parts of Oke Ogun area of Oyo State.
The towns where the killings allegedly took place, according to the Fulani ethnic community in the state, are Otu, Ikomu, Igbo-Ora, Iwere-Ile, Iganna, Ilaju and Ado-Awaye.
In a petition by the leaders of Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, AlhajiSalihu Kadiri and Mallam Muhammed Salihu Kisi, National Chairman and General Secretary, respectively, the herdsmen called on Governor Abiola Ajimobi to do something urgently to prevent further loss of lives in the areas.
They gave the names of some of those allegedly killed as Sanni Musa, Saidu Abdulahi, Ibraheem Haruna, Umar Babuga, Saliu Rebo and Muhammad Usman.
They said: “Natives, particularly farmers and youths, kill our people at any slight provocation. The common excuses for such brutal killings are that our cattle are fond of destroying their farmlands or disturbing free flow of vehicular traffic on some major roads.
“In the last few weeks, these persons have invaded many Fulani clans and settlements to commit their crime of serial murder with impunity. This has resulted in the cold-blood murder of at least eleven of our brothers whose families have been left in eternal grief

Since the government and the Fulani communities have refused to address this grave matter, the people have decided to act in a barbaric way to put a stop to this embarrassment and to restore their dignity.

The Herdsmen should learn how to respect peoples dignity by not trespassing and taking away the natives source of livelihood and causing untold hardship to the community in a bid to satisfy their masters and their selfishness.

Well after they slaughtered men that approached then in the east I don't think anybody is ready for dialogue anymore with these people.

Did i read this man saying 'common excuse of their cattle destroying their crops' !
Let them kill just one of their cattle and see how they will react.

1st time I ll see Fulanis crying foul play. I m very sure those Fulanis also v their plan of retaliation or must v done it.
Though the killings if true is very bad. People should stop taking laws into their hand.
Last Bullet:
But it's true that some herdsmen just don't control their cows well. They allow them to eat grass anywhere. They don't mind to destroy another person's farm as long as their cows are filled. This is a very bad mentality. Even when they know that they are not in their land & their actions may cause ethnic chaos.
