INDIAN authorities have arrested a
Nigerian, Abdul Raheem Kamalideen
Kehinde, with 190 grammes of cocaine
estimated to be worth N50 million.

“Police confirmed that the Crime
branch of Delhi Police received a tip-off
that he would deliver a consignment of
cocaine to ITBP School, Sector 16-B,
Dwarka, New Delhi. The police moved
to apprehend Kehinde and also seized
190 grammes of cocaine from him, ”
The Times of India said.

The Commissioner of Police, Ravindra
Yadav, said: “The seized contraband is
worth Rs two crore (N50 million) in the
international market. It is one of the
biggest hauls of cocaine in recent
times.”

Following an interrogation, police
were able to obtain more information
about Kehinde, who had originally
moved to India in May 2010, on a
business visa in order to start a
garment business.

He was living in west Delhi’s Hari
Nagar area and has been involved in
drug trafficking since 2011.

“He was arrested in a case of cheating
but got bail in the case in April 2011
and his passport was deposited in the
concerned court,” Yadav said.

“Soon after coming out of jail,
Kehinde met Kayode, a fellow Nigerian,
and both of them started drug
trafficking. He used to get commission
on every delivery,” Yadav added.

Police have registered a case under
Section 21 of the Indian Narcotics
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances
(NDPS) Act against Kehinde who could
face up to 10 years in prison.
