Why Did Akpabio And His Family Relocate To Lagos State? by AkamuandStew: 12:04pm On Sep 09, 2013
What could be the reason for the relocation of a State Governor from his State to another state?

National Mirror gathered that the relocation of Akpabio’s family to Lagos perhaps worsened the absence of the governor from the state. When he takes time off his busy schedule in Abuja, he moves to Lagos to spend time with his family.

This is the reason;

Baby mama: From JOE EFFIONG, UYO

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Police, Mr Umar Gwadebe has said that the state ranks highest in the country’s list of murder cases.
Mr Gwadabe, who disclosed this when the Assistant Inspector General of police, (AIG) Zone Six, Mr Ibrahim Muktari, paid a working visit to the state police command on Monday, also said the state police command lacked adequate personnel to tackle this challenge.

While asking the AIG to use his position to assist the Akwa Ibom State Command in acquiring the latest forensic vehicles required to professionally and discreetly handle cases of murder and rape prevalent in the state, stressed: “It is pertinent to note that a great number of police officers are retiring while even the officers and men needed to adequately position the quick response squads and other patrol units are inadequate.”

Gwadabe also informed the visiting AIG of the poor level of infrastructure and the increase in structural lapses such as bad fences which had enhanced criminal activities and serious trespass on police land by members of the public.

The police boss attributed the security challenges facing his command to the economic makeup of the oil rich state with an estimated population of five million people, influx of financial, oil and academic investors. He asked the AIG to make available more arms and ammunition to ensure proper and adequate security.

He, however, enthused that the command had maintained an unflagging and aggressive campaign against crime and criminality which had resulted in the smashing of many criminal gangs, rescue of kidnap victims, arrest and prosecution of kidnap/armed robbery suspects and recovery of various caliber of arms and ammunition. “We have also been able to restore public confidence through our vibrant visible policing and effective response to distress calls.

Our men, in line with IGP’s vision of a competent policing are undergoing constant training and retraining in order to keep them abreast with the challenges of modern policing.” However, the AIG declined to respond publicly to any of the issues raised by the commissioner and also declined to speak with the press either on the issues raised or on any other matter concerning the Akwa Ibom State police command.

I would have thought Bornu , Lagos , Ogun ,Anambra or Edo going by news stories.
This is Surprising

Personally, I can't reside for long anywhere in Nigeria outside SouthWest and central district in Abuja.

Kindly leave Akpabio for being cautious of his safety and that of his family.

His family being in Lagos is irrelevant. What is relevant is that a state governor not residing in his state. Now that one is new. How does he coordinate his duties from outside his state,...is it thru internet?

Security is not all about building roads but setting up scheme and framework to tackle it such as Lagos state security trust fund which is now emulated by several states in the country initiated first ever by a governor of FASHOLA seven months after his inauguration in 2007.

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), on Wednesday inaugurated a board of trustees to oversee the operation and management of the state?s Security Trust Fund.
The governor has also announced plans by the government to build a Security Control Room to monitor crime and other offences in the state. The six-member board is headed by Remi Makanjuola with three members each from the public and private sectors.
Those representing the private sector include Jim Ovia, Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti of Skye Bank and Rueben Abati, Chairman of Editorial Board of The Guardian newspapers.

State Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Jide Sanwo olu, the Commissioner for Rural Development, Lanre Balogun, and retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Kazeem represent the public sector.
Executive secretary of the board is a former commissioner in the state, Fola Arthur-Worrey.

Speaking at the brief ceremony witnessed by captains of industry, members of the armed forces as well as top officials of the state government, Fashola said the inauguration was in compliance with the provisions of section 3 of the law establishing the Trust Fund which stipulates that a Board of Trustees, made up of distinguished members from both the public and private sectors with a chairman be inaugurated to manage the fund.

Even my ex-gfs don't live in Akwa Ibom! No jobs, no life, all f'ked up! Let them continue to deceive themselves! This is one of the reasons Lagos and the SW states should be upping their residency laws! Most likely people will fall sick and need healthcare services, they must be registered as Nigerians, out of state residents and be made to pay out of state rates! This is an easy way to make a ton of money! SW governments need to aggressively regulate hospitals, doctors and medical practitioners to provide top quality care and in turn charge a premium for it! Kai, when is this Integration Agenda going to start MATURING!!?? angry angry angry

Akwa Ibom is a village just like the rest of that region so no surprise here why their leaders and families are not calling their villages home. Even common villagers all over that region can not stand that place hence their endless and indefinite migration to SW states.

With ordinary citizens, it's quiet understandable, but state executives off loading their families in other states for safe keep, better life and conditions connotes and sends so many negative messages to the local population and citizenry.

How do you implore your subjects to believe in you, in your administration and the state in general with you and your family deserting and avoiding the state like a damn plague?

You can not be Aso Rock errand boy running everywhere with that dullard and at the same time govern effectively and at the same time run to Lagos to be with your stashed away family enjoying the good life in Lagos while your ow people back home are getting killed and your sate remaining the murder capital of Nigeria..

These incompetent, lack of state pride are nothing but accidental leaders with little or no care and regards for their states and the people they govern.

naptu2: I haven't seen the Viano or the R Class in a while, although I saw the Landcruiser yesterday (which means that the First Lady might be in Lagos).

When not in Lagos, she is in London - according to the following excerpt, taken from a 2010 article

INSECURITY: MY WORRIES ABOUT AKWA IBOM STATE
It is a verifiable fact that Akwa Ibom’s First Lady, Mrs. Unoma Ekaette Akpabio and her children, live in Lagos and London. Her Excellency’s children do not attend school in Akwa Ibom but Lagos and they do this with police escorts that turned embarrassing to their school’s authority.

This has now mellowed after the school authority threatened. Her Excellency, whenever in Lagos, worships regularly at the Catholic Church located at Falomo; but she also spends some periods in London. She flies into Akwa Ibom when there is any compulsory occasion for her to attend. Governor Akpabio himself lives more in Abuja NICON Hotel & Towers than the ‘prestigious’ Uyo Governor’s Lodge he reconstructed with N6.5billion.

.. insecurity is a condition only fit for the masses.
