Obasanjo Is A Liar, Says Atiku. by MrAladin: 8:41pm On Sep 11, 2013 |
Mallam Garba Shehu, Media Adviser to Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, issued a strong statement Wednesday in Abuja defending his boss in reaction to corruption accusations made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in an EFCC magazine “Zero Tolerance”. Obasanjo had said in the interview that the former Vice President risked jail if he travelled to the United States. “The former President is wrong. It is widely known that Atiku didn’t enter government broke. He declared his assets at the commencement of his Vice Presidency and did so at the end of his term as required by the constitution, which is a sacred document to Atiku,” Garba Shehu said. According to him, “Atiku, who is currently returning from China after leading a private economic trade mission at the invitation of the Chinese government, travels often and has a well-documented record of building industries and putting thousands of Nigerians to work. And this record, quite frankly, has been thoroughly investigated.” While reiterating that Atiku has no case against him by any arm of the law in any country in the world, including the United States, Shehu observed that “President Obasanjo’s repeated ‘jokes’ about Turaki not being able to go to America have become cliché, tiresome and not true.” The Media Adviser recalled that in 2006, former President Obasanjo sent his National Security Adviser (NSA) to stop Atiku from travelling to the US, saying that the Vice President risked arrest on arrival. He said that Turaki spurned that advice, left Nigeria to land at the Andrews Air Force Base, the official airport of the US government, to receive the best reception ever on a visit to America. “So, we are used to those taunts,” he said. He noted that when the former Vice President left office shortly before late Musa Yar’Adua was inaugurated as President, Atiku spent three months in the US, adding that if they (US authorities) wanted him for anything, they would have met him. “It is time to start dealing in facts. Specifically, the fact that Atiku’s visa to visit the United States has been recently renewed. “Another fact is Atiku is one of the most investigated politicians in Nigerian history. And every investigation, whether politically motivated here at home or by the FBI abroad, has yielded the same result every time: not guilty. “If Atiku is guilty of anything, it is crushing persistent attempts at re-writing our constitution. “Atiku has chosen the path of optimism and hope. Moving forward, he will continue working to fuel Nigeria’s economy through investment and job creation, while also passionately and persistently defending our young democracy,” Garba said. www.kaaf.com/2013/09/Obasanjo-a-liar-says-Atiku-435620 |

assu2013: Both of dem r d sameyou are absolutely right Obasanjo might not be saint but am 100% sure that the old man knows what is talking about .people like Atiku should be cooling his greedy- ass in prison by now if Nigeria really punish vices. there are load of criminals hiding behind politics to loot public treasury for example . Atiku -Abubakar, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gbenga Daniel , Alao akala , James Ibori , Alamesiegha, Orrji Kalu , Bukola Saraki, Lucky Igbinedo, infact there is a long list of looters who should be dealt with if Nigeria need to progress and if we seriously want to make this country a better place for all we need to recover this loots |

The best way for Atiku to prove Obasanjo wrong is to travel to the US and not the verbal refutation. I can still remember Jennifer Douglas! 1 Like |

Baba hadly talk nd anytime he talks dia must b atom of truth nd empirical of fact. Hmm,God is watching una thru his cctv Garba Shehu, Who do you think you are trying to fool?? Perhaps some mugus/nonentities from your geo-political zone. Under what circumstance did your benefactor leave the Customs Service in 1993 as a uniformed officer? Definitely not gloriously or as a faithful servant of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. For someone that has been so used to free money, OBJ’s comment on him has not come as a surprise to discerning Nigerians. With people like Turaki desperate to rule Nigeria, we are all doomed and the economic life-line of the state is bound to be JEOPARDIZED if successful in his bid. |

Listened to George Zimmerman’s wife following his latest brush with the law recently. She said something to the effect that since his acquittal he seems to now consider himself “invisible.”. There is just something about letting someone get away with something so obviously wrong that makes things worse for everyone else –including the inner caucus- on the long run. I don’t believe we’ve seen the worst of Obasanjo yet. There is just no incentive for him to reform. By the way, he probably always thought Goodluck Jonathan was incompetent, he just didn’t see the point in saying so when he was rigging him into office. Obasanjo is as corrupt as Abubakar Atiku! |

Dike Chimezie:I wonder why some foools still call Obj Baba here was a man given the whole opportunity in the world to re-write the history book of this country for good (from 1999 - 2007) unfortunately, he took Nigeria to the worst record of corruption (we were twice named no 1 most corrupt country by Transparency International)! Truly under a saner clime, Obj deserves to be lynched, what a shameless old man he is! 1 Like |

Some wuld say OBJ was a good president odas will disagree, but, when a man sees his end he will want to know how history will see him. OBJ has bin called the man that joined the North in decaying this country, some say he save Nigerian and helped put democracy in Nigeria, but OBJ has decided to be known as the activist that helped change Nigeria dat he almost destroyed. If he is looking for redemption he needs to open up to the world with his heart open and ask for redemption, with all this is "16yr old girl" tactics is just embarrassing for him. |

Tolexander: The best way for Atiku to prove Obasanjo wrong is to travel to the US and not the verbal refutation. Atiku My US visa has just been renewed, Ex-VP tells ex-president Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar replied yesterday to his former boss Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s allegation of corruption. He said his United State visa had just been renewed, contrary to the insinuations by ex-President Obasanjo. He also said he had visited the United States since he left office in 2007, adding that he had been investigated by many agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States, but no allegation of corruption was found against him. Atiku, in a statement through his Media Adviser Mallam Garba Shehu, said he had no case to answer either in Nigeria or in the United States. The statement said: “The former President is wrong. It is widely known that Atiku didn’t enter government broke. He declared his assets at the commencement of his vice presidency and did so at the end of his term as required by the constitution, which is a sacred document to Atiku. “Atiku, who is currently returning from China after leading a private economic trade mission at the invitation of the Chinese government, travels often and has a well-documented record of building industries and putting thousands of Nigerians to work. Dike Chimezie:I learn’t the chinese govt. didn,t invite Atiku as speculated by his media aide. Time has come when Nigerians should not believe these people calling themselves progressives. Tinubu did same when he alleged Baraka Obama gave him special invite to attend Democratic convention. All these lies are to potray then as progressives and good for governance. Atiku spent 8 years as vice, what did we as a region benefit from his 8 years? Absolute nothing. If he really want to disprove OBJ, he should travel to the US immediately. I am quite sure, very positive that OBJ is telling the truth. Shekena! |
