The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa, has requested that the Benin airport should be upgraded to an international status being one of the oldest airports in the country.

The Oba made this known when managing director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), George Uriesi, paid him a courtesy call in his palace.

Erediauwa also expressed appreciation to the aviation authorities for acceding to his request that planes should not fly directly over the palace even as he expressed surprise on the survival of a boy who stowed away on the under carriage of a plane recently.

According to a statement from FAAN, Uriesi had assured the public especially air travellers from Edo and surrounding states, that the operational facilities at the Benin airport would soon undergo major transformation.

A direct flight from Benin to Rome should be a profitable route considering the number of Asewo's, pimps and the Madames travelling to and fro!!!1 lipsrsealed

the government should hand over all airport to state. it is not fair to some state that the government control their airport while state lik akwa ibom makes revenue for only akwa ibom, while benin airport makes money to the federal govt. and akwa ibom state comes again , to share and take part of the money generated from benin airport.

this makes edo state a disadvantage state because it will not be able to make revenue for edo state.

while should akwa ibom be allowed to make money with an airport and edo state citizen are not allow the same benefit. i believe the only fair thing to do , is to have over all airport to state.

this is the picture of ondo state why will they not allow state like edo or ondo state the chance to make money to their state. this is not fair on state like edo or ondo state, it is injustice. and the federal govt most hand over all airport to state.

all animal most be equal. if akwa ibom is allow to generate revenue from airport, edo or ondo state should be allowed. hand over all airport to state.

What is going on , is that state like awka ibom state makes money 2 ways.. they make money from their own airport and also makes money from money shared from revenue from other airport. while edo and ondo etc makes money only 1 way.

Let them use Enugu International Airport. It is cheaper and better than going to Lagos to fly international route.

I mean rather than those big aircrafts disturb the peace and quiet of the Oba of Benin during take-off and landing, travelers can just drive to Enugu and depart to their destination.

The Benin airport has been remodeled already, which other transformation is the FAAN MD talking about?

There are only two really viable and potentially profitable airports in nigeria.
Muritala
Abuja airport.

The rest are just resource sucking ,glorified landing strip.
I have seen better us stations oversea.
What those airports need is to have a runway to service the few daily landings
