Just joking...add it to whatever savings for the kids. £80x 12 is £960.That is still a nice extra amount to go into a Children's Cash ISA.Just pretend ur still paying for the meals

They should give free meals to all pupils sef angry if we can afford to give billions in aid to many countries that doesn't deserve it including the Syrian rebels then providing these free meals shouldn't be too much to ask for.

I've got 3 children but only one will benefit as one is already 8 years old while the other is just less than 2 month old (hopefully he'll benefit later).

I really wish labour can come back but I don't believe their egghead of a leader can win over voters, labour would have been better with David Milliband.

this policy is nonsensical - my daughter will supposedly benefit from it but after horse meat and the fact that she doesn't eat outside I cannot see this working in my favour, why don't they increase the child care percentage for tax credits back to the 80% it was before the racist Tories came into power, why have they frozen child benefit and SMP to 1% or nothing, this rubbish headline of free school meals is absolute rubbish. I'm not expecting Michelin dinning for school kids but don't expect quality to be fed to your children, i for one will not be allowing my daughter have "free" school meals

Free food? undecided I will pass...

My kids get the best food from their mama...

No supermarche food sef.
How much are you trying to save sef. By the time they go toilet 5 times a day, no one will tell you to prepare food for them.

Dont think so, jamie oliver is just a champion for healthy school meals cos some parents feed their kids junk. His argument is at least one hot healthy meal a day is better than none.Dont really buy it though cos am thinking so these kids dont deserve healthy hot meals at the weekends or while on holidays. But that's maybe cos I feed my kids properly so he may have a point as half bread is better than none.

Most kids I know over 7 hate school dinners anyway, for some odd reason they prefer packed lunches
Re: HURRAYYY, Free School Meal For All 4 To 7yr Olds by bebe2(f): 12:04am On Sep 19, 2013
eyaaaaaa, my kids have been on school dinners since they entered yr one.

a hot meal instead if sandwiches?

yes pleaseeee !!!!

my kids know wat they like and if they don't like the school meal I will gladly give them a packed lunch.

as for quality, one not so quality meal in a day is not going to kill them.

as long as I hear dinner was yummy, we will be doing free meals.

Re: HURRAYYY, Free School Meal For All 4 To 7yr Olds by vanitty: 7:12am On Sep 19, 2013
My opinion is unless you prepare all your food at home, then you have no leg to stand on screaming quality. ""McDonald's,nandos,Chinese,Pizzahut are not exactly healthy and only God knows, only God Almighty knows how food is prepared there. I have vision of rat, snots, saliva and phlegms, I just can't help it. ""

i used to buy burger from iceland until the horse meat scandal, since then i havent.

those spotty teenagers add to it wink wink

on a serious note school meals aint so bad.
my kids have learnt to eat diff foods especially vegetables. where else wud they have learnt to eat,
runner beans, cauliflower or courgette. i cant stand those veg.

I prepare my daughter's food from scratch as she has eating/food issues. so yes quality is very VERY important with me - thanks

Cotton, I see no reason to quote me undecided

@ post

School meals are not all bad jare. Especially with all the expose in the daily papers and random inspections, the schools are very careful to tick all the boxes.

I know 010 was said jokingly on this thread but there are some kids that actually really need this and I am all for it. What we don't need is the intimidating and lording over attitude based on mere assumptions. Very myopic view to take.

^^^ totally agree with u, not all free things are bad

I got my hubby for free and he is quiet good cheesy

Paid for me but I can be a bit-ch sometimes shocked

On a serious note, If her child has food issues then she has no choice, but she shud not have slated those of us on school meals like we dnt care wat our kids eat.

Oh well, lets just relax and enjoy the ride of this tory govt. undecided

i'm not slating anyone and think we are all starting to misunderstand each other, this is the UK - even with all the rules trust me rubbish always slips thru. Trust me, my job gives me access to purchases schools make - they are very willing to buy ipads for senior staff yet will buy tesco value food for catering
