The researcher discovered that family influences the children negatively as well as positively which affect them seriously.

According to Agbodo (1979) titled the growing wave of delinquency in our aged children. He admitted the juvenile delinquency in our society today has assumed dimension. He therefore attributed its causes to the influence of western education and values. He further maintained that today most Nigerians children resent parental authority and some even challenge it. There was no longer respect by the children for aged, cherished customs, norms and practices of people.

He aged that it is beginning of juvenile delinquency. According to him maternal employment is also another causes of this. He supported his case by saying “that in traditional African society the women’s place is in the home”.

However, in our present economic situation caused by inflation and the typical Nigerian characteristic influence most women. Some have deserted their traditional role in the home and have taken employment outside their family. He then insisted that a lot of delinquent problems we have with children these days are attributed to the absence of their working mothers from the home. He maintained that both the husband and wife were the breadwinners. There was no parental control over the children. They are prone to fall into evil ways. He the emphasized the importance of parents devotion to their children to material things.

Sprott (1964) in contributing to issue of juvenile delinquency among children, said fifty percent of delinquent children came from broken home and over crowed families. Normally children such broken home their fate would be indulgency in all sorts of immoral acts leading to deviant in the family and school environment at large since no eye is on them.

He opined that family can be a breeding ground for delinquency because constant quarrel and fight in the families could lead to malevolence of children such as violence, lying, cheating, truancy, stealing and bullying which these children transferred into the schools environment.

Sprott (1964) maintained that some parents use harsh voices and hard treatment on their children. This does not only influence the children negatively but also resulted to developing undesirable behaviours which is delinquency. While most parents blame each other for the disappointing behaviours of their children in making preferences of their children by liking either their father or mother. This also greatly contributed to the problem in the family as it genders stifle and division in the family.

Sprott (1979) Argued that personality was the sum total of an individual character traits, attitude and values. Personality of a parent might be expected to influence the personality development of the child.

He stressed that many parents do not know why they got married, for this influence the children behaviour in such family and school environment. Example when a woman marries because the man is rich or a man marries because he wants to control the purse of the woman or has prospect of becoming rich. The family will be in trouble, if she or he did not get what he wants and this will make the children problematic.

I love the write up. Nice one. Yes o, as long as dad and mum work, the children will always do what they like. No maid (nt even super nanny) can take the place of mum / dad.
Again is multiple or overcrowded families. The younger generation should learn to apply family planning methods in order not to make mistakes some of our parents made. There is nothing like giving birth to the number of children one CAN take care of.
