Believe it or not, living in the White House isn't a total free ride for the President and his family. Whatever food the first family or friends consume is written down on a bill and presented to them at the end of the month.
And it’s not just food. Toothpaste, toilet paper, and nearly every commodity they personally use must be paid for by the President.

Almost every president is shocked to learn this upon their arrival at the White House. Nancy Reagan said, “Nobody ever told us the President and his wife are charged for every meal, as well as incidentals like dry cleaning, toothpaste, and other toiletries,” after being presented with her first bill.

Rosalynn Carter commonly complained about the expensive costs her and her husband were forced to pay.

In U.S, senators and House of reps. members don't get official vehicles or official residence from the government. They pay for everything they need from their salaries. As a matter of fact, some of these senators share accomodation with their colleagues. I know of Senator Schumer and Senator Durbin who live together in rented apartment in Washington D.C.

The cost expended on any US President is astronomical compared to what can be imagined. The only difference is the citizens' understanding, tolerance and respect to the Office, no matter who the occupant is at any given time.

If the budget for ASO Rock's upkeep is not right, the NASS wouldn't have pass it. Now that it has been passed and being implemented, it is foolishness to question it's morality now that it's a law.

I agree with you that most Nigerian Senators and rep members are over paid and corrupt. However, you are not correct about U.S senators and House of reps members not getting allowance for their accommodation, transportation, Staff, driver, security and other allowance. They also get allowance just like Nigeria Senators and they don't use their salaries to pay for accommodation, Staff, security and other over head cost.

U.S presidents never accept kickbacks while in office. But they get various non-executive appointments on various boards in blue chips and banks after they leave office.
As for bill clinton, guess who is in charge of all of Haiti's earthquake relief funds and ask the the Haiti govt. how much of the over $6 billion donated has gotten to them in the 3 years ?
