Story true or not,the menace constituted by these convoy is horrific.more often than not, they are on mere errands to carry Oga's girlfriend. And care less about who dies.because these acts go unpunished they are encouraged to do more.God will help us

berem: Coincidentally, I also live on the same axis with you. Several times I have seen Fashola's convoy, there are no sirens blaring instead you see flashing of lights from the cars and they don't move on top speed. I have also seen a serving senator from Lagos on Lagos-Ibadan expressway in a traffic jam near mowe and he didn't disturb anyone with sirens.
Fair enough. So lets agree it was the other "Progressive" across the border abi? Oya who has seen Ajimobi / Amosun moving? Time for someone to earn his pay!

Controversy:
http://www.punchng.com/metro/two-die-as-govt-convoy-causes-accident-in-lagos/
are you ok now? Coconut head
why did you replace govt with governor?is governor and government now the same thing?a government convoy of 7cars would ordinarily not have 3 escort vehicles filled with policement,at least not in lagos or ogun state.could be a convoy of police officers or some other group.

berem: So what has Fashola got to do with the situation at hand? Is he the cause of convoys bashing and killing lagosians? Do you have any proof that he is the one in the convoy? At least it is evident that Kogi state convoy killed Prof. Iyayi. What proof do you have that it was Fashola's convoy that did this?
Oh yes we don't have proof. And its simply because punch refused to investigate the matter properly before going to press. Punch is not telling us all they know. How can a "supposedly" national paper file such a story on gross wastage of human lives and they couldn't even ascertain d truth of who did it!!! A crime that was committed in broad daylite! In the presence of many!
Falana should go to the area to investigate the matter, but would he? Dino melaye too has a job to do here!

omenka: Next the rodents would descend on the thread to blackmail the mods into takin this to the fp since it happened in lagos. The convoy belongs to neither Ogun nor Lagos state govt. That we have a horde of policemen attached to the convoy doesn't mean it belongs to a state govt. It might well be one of the crooks in abuja that had gone to lag to cool off a little since the blunders of their HNIC is bringing so much heat upon them.

May leprosy strike the fingers of anyone who quotes me!

berem: I don't think so! I doubt if the convoy belongs to Fashola or any other government official from Lagos because they don't drive on top speed and blow sirens. The convoy must be from neighbouring states. I suspect Ogun state anyway.
Will you just shut it already? You are damn too annoying, what's wrong with you? What does absolving Fashola gain you?
Since the convoy doesn't belong yo him, it must belong to the governor of South Kordafan in South Sudan.

berem: Since no one is laying claims to the convoy, what happens next? Who foots the hospital bills of the injured? Who compensates the families of the dead victims?

It may not even be a governor but one high ranking official at the federal level or even a high ranking party official (i suspect the killer party) , advance party or even a mattress for a govt official. No one knows.
Here in PH, i see various presidential convoys almost every other day even though Jonathan nor sheepo arent in town.

The truth is drastic measures needs to be taken in this country as regards ridiculous use of convoys. These guys are heartless are always feel above the law.

Re: Government Convoy Causes Accident In Lagos, 2 killed, Many Injured by naptu2: 12:23pm On Nov 14, 2013
naptu2:

Precisely. There is no evidence in the body of the story that the convoy belongs to a governor.

Once upon a time, the Obasanjo Administration banned the use of such convoys by public officers, except a few officers that were listed. The Fashola Administration also banned the use of sirens in Lagos, after Uzoma Okere was brutalised by naval ratings ( https://www.nairaland.com/194120/lagos-bans-governors-others-use ). However, I think we need to go beyond making these things illegal. The Inspector General of Poliice should ensure that convoy drivers that are involved in such accidents are prosecuted.
Re: Government Convoy Causes Accident In Lagos, 2 killed, Many Injured by Slizbeat(m): 12:27pm On Nov 14, 2013
End point of the matter is that "THE CONVOY BELONGS TO AN APC GOVERNOR" as all surrounding states apart from ONDO are APC states.

At every point, you lots e.g berem, will be demanding proof when it's obviously clear for you to see. But when it involves any PDP state, you are all quick to believe it happened even without proof(except WADA'S case which he accepted). Anyways, Fashola is a lawyer and always requires proof which you lots have also learned to do even in glaring evidence.

Now again, why are they both denying?? I was at Abeokuta with my deputy and I was at marina while my deputy was outta the country?? That's an ALIBI if you ask me.

Lol @ Jonathan and sheepo. grin

My main concern is innocent lives being killed and injured in this reckless driving by government convoys. I remember the last time I was in Owerri, the convoy carrying Rochas nearly hit the keke napep I chartered to take me to my hotel lodge along PH road. Blaring sirens nearly made me go deaf. God forbid if it happened, I would have sued the hell out of him for reckless driving. grin

We are not serious about safety in this country. It is virtually impossible for the Corp Marshal of the FRSC to arrest members of a senior government official's convoy who drive recklessly because majority of people do not respect the rule of law especially when they have gun-weilding security men under their control.

What we have in Nigeria is selective justice which won't get us anywhere.
Re: Government Convoy Causes Accident In Lagos, 2 killed, Many Injured by Afritop(m): 1:32pm On Nov 14, 2013
Since the government convoy cannot be identified, no government official from both Lagos and Ogun state be it commissioner, Local Govt Chairman and even APC stalwarts will claim responsibilty. Government officials will do everything possible, if it is by killing their fellow citizens and shedding innocent blood to protect their selfish political interest. It is just unfortunate that the people we voted in office are eventually turning their back against us and denying their murderous and wicked acts
