Hello ladies and gents!

I thought I'd start this thread. For owners, users and fans of the Four Rings, please feel free to share. Post details using the format as shown below (my own car):

Model: A8 Quattro Sport.

Model year: 2005.
Mileage: 151,000 miles.
Engine: 4.2 V8 2 x DOHC 40V.
Power: 340hp.
Torque: 440Nm.
Fuel: Gasoline.

Then simply state what ownership has been like, what you've done to your Audi, and what future plans you have for her. If you have more than one Audi, you can share details too. Or if you owned one in the past, or just like the brand, please feel free to contribute. We're all here to learn something new, and hopefully, we'll be all the wiser from sharing. smiley

Audi 80 b4
1996 model
Mileage forgotten
Engine 2.3 inline 5 150up
Front wheel drive
150hp
4speed auto tranny

This was 2years ago before I joined nairaland. I have always been a car enthusiast until I met you guys on nl and I became humble.

I have been a fan for German cars Until my parents got me the Audi. Initially the engine was running smoothly with the injection System and after some issues that had to do with the blocking of nozzles. I was convinced by the road technician to do a convertion to a carburetor.

I almost said no but I remembered the conversation I did on my benz 230e with a MAUNAL trans and it worked perfectly. I had to agree and at the end of the surgery which went successfully the can wasnt picking up like before. It was taking close to 10seconds to reach 60km/h and I had to disposed of it. I enjoyed it for only a month. It's cool and stable When you are above 140km. But rear wheel cars has always been my favourite.

Im so scared that It will take me so decades to own another car because of the threat from the federal government policy about the importation of used vehicles

Camaro, it's a shame your mechanic messed up your 2.3L Audi 80 engine. Te Mercedes-Benz 230E had a carburettor version, though in the 200 (2.0) models. All 2.3 models were fuel-injected. The 2,309cc Audi 80 however had no carburettor version, so a carb conversion would require pretty much a hybrid set-up. All custom bits, unless you sourced the cylinder head and carburettor intake manifold, from the Audi 80 B2 80 1.9 CD, the B2 Audi Coupe 1.9 GT or the rare Audi 100 type 44 1.9.

Even then, the older cylinder head oil and coolant passages wouldn't line up with the oil and coolant passages in the 2.3 cylinder block.

The 2.3 cylinder head was not optimised to be carb-fed, hence the sluggish performance and other issues.

Just one thing though - the 2,309c I5 SOHC 10V motor made 133hp, not 150. smiley

I agree with you that there were no carb for the b4 Audi five cylinders. That project (convertion) exposed me to notice that the Carb was not feeding the engine well as in air-fuel ratio that lead to vibration. On ideal, the engine will steam smoothly and as soon as a load is added changes will occur. The ecu was only controlling the gearbox. I have learnt my lesson.

I purchased my Audi A8 about 2 months ago, and so far, ownership has been a joy. Nothing has needed fixing, the only items I'll be attending to will be upgrades, and are as follows:

01) 9"x20" wheels, with 265/35x20 rubber.
02) Upgrade analogue TV to digital.
03) Tint rear windows.
04) Change air suspension coding with VCDS, so the car sits 20mm lower in Sport mode.
05) Install factory rear screens, using factory headrests.
06) Replace factory exhaust with custom CAT-back stainless steel system.
07) ECU remap to remove factory speed limiter, currently set at 155mph (250km/h).

I did have to buy a duplicate key from Audi, and have it coded too, for the sum of £273, as the car only came with one key. The rear license plate has delaminated slightly, so I'll be having a new set made, as the rear plate lets the car down.

Model year: 1995.
Mileage: 000,000 miles.
Engine: 4.2 V8 2 x DOHC 32V.
Power: 388hp.
Torque: 512Nm.
Fuel: Gasoline.
Transmission: 6-speed manual.
Drive configuration: AWD.

I purchased this car in June 2012, as a stock Audi A4 2.6 V6 Quattro Sport.

This one is an on-going project, and the spec will take up way too much space here. But it'll be a fire-breathing monster. I've wrung out as much power as I can in naturally-aspirated form, so the obvious progression will be going the forced induction route. Target is 600hp and 840Nm.

I have owned quite a number of Audi Models, to me this is the best automation ever, of course that is my sentiments. With the combination of beautifully crafted exterior and interior designs with raw power and the best sound system, I am yet to see any car maker that can sway me from Audi. Most of my friends called me Mr Audi and I have won over a lot of them to share with me the excitment in owning an Audi and they are happy ever after. Below is my latest baby;

Year: 2005

Transmission: Automatic

Model: A6 Quattro

Engine: 3.2L 3123CC V6 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated

Doors: 4

Drive Type: AWD

Mileage: 233,786 miles

Drivetrain: All Wheel Drive

Sub Model: 3.2L

Horspower: 255

Nice choice of car, Ihimami.

Have you had the timing chain replaced yet, along with the associated tensioner and idlers? Because that would appear to be the 3.2 V6's weak point.

The Madam's Car

Model: A2 SE.
Model year: 2001.
Mileage: 108,000 miles.
Engine: 1.4 16V.
Power: 75hp.
Torque: 126Nm.
Fuel: Gasoline.
Transmission: 5-speed Manual.
Drive configuration: FWD.

Owning has been a pleasure, even with burnt out exhaust valve. Had to fix it for MOT (sorry I could not bring in the end, it became rather urgent). Had the top end redone and its running smoothly now. No more plans for her as its running great now. Great little car. Always wanted the 1.4Tdi (90ps) but the extra cost over the 1.4 petrol doesn't really add up to the savings in road tax and mpg. Used only for local trips and the odd 120 mile round trips.

Now we can talk about my Alfa Romeo 2.4 20v JTD and there's loads of stuff i'd like to do to it...

And here is mine... Basically the same specs as that of Ikoksi, but built 2 years before his...

Model: A4 Quattro Sport.
Model year: 2002.
Mileage: about 140,000 miles.
Engine: 3.0 V6 2 x DOHC 30V.
Power: 220hp.
Torque: 300Nm.
Fuel: Petrol
Transmission: 5-speed Tiptronic.
Drive configuration: AWD.

Ownership so far has been Ok bar some few electrical gremlins. I cant complain though, after all I rescued the car literally from the grave, and after our dear rewires had wrecked havoc on it.
Driving experience-absolutely wonderful; I'm hooked on 4wd sedans now... even if (and i don't think so)I ever leave the Audi marque, I'd go Merc 4matic or BMW x; You need to see my baby perform in the mud...!!

No future plans for her at the moment..., except drive her hard... :-)

Power: 150hp.
Torque: 225Nm.
Fuel: Gasoline.
Transmission: 5-speed manual.

I purchased this car sometime in July 2013. Totally stock, so far all I've done is insure her, put gas into the tank and get a suntan with the roof down.

Still looking into a V8 conversion, and all wheel drive to handle the extra grunt a 4.2 V8 will provide. Sure it'll be quick with FWD and a V8 in a straight line, but what's power without control?

Thanks Mr Siena, I am yet to do that but I dont know if the previous owner had done that. Please at what milage do you suspect that this issue can occure and when to replace? And it is difficult to access a reliable workshop in Nigeria to carry out the replacement, in fact, I never thought timing chain could be an issue as timing belt. What is your suggestion?

100,000 miles on the original timing chain and tensioners is plenty. Your car has done twice that mileage. To be fair, it's the chain guides that wear out (the teflon linings). If left unchecked, the chain will now run against the exposed steel, causing rapid chain wear.

If the guides are replaced at the 100,000 (recommended) mile mark, the chain could certainly outlive the engine. Though once the chain is stripped off to replace the guides, most owners would opt to have the chain replaced too, for peace of mind. You definitely need this carried out by a franchised Volkswagen Centre, or at least an independent specialist, who knows his / her way around Audi or Volkswagen engines...

...Because the chain is at the rear of the engine. Replacement of the chain or guides requires engine removal, hence most owners would opt to have the chain replaced if the engine was pulled to replace the chain guides. It just makes no practical (or economic) sense to shove the engine back into the chassis with an old chain.

iKoksi: Hello Siena, been a while. Trust you are keeping well. I'm going for Q5, no much of reviews online, any word??

The Q5 is nice, though somewhat overshadowed by the much larger (and more luxurious) Q7. I personally prefer the Q7, more choice of engines, big beefy V8 in both petrol and diesel, not to mention the brutal 6.0 V12 TDI.

What engine would you be looking at?
Re: Club Audi Naija And Elsewhere! by iKoksi(m): 11:50pm On Dec 01, 2013
Prefer the Q5. Q7 too large for me. will go for the 2010 3.2L V-6 Premium. heard its B&O sound system as well.

The C7 RS6 is one hell of a car. I have had the privilege of test driving one at my local Audi dealership. The model available was however an RS6 Avant, which I prefer over the sedan.

Very fast, very thirsty, immense presense on the road. I would buy one.

I need honest and reliable information from actual Audi owners plus pictures of how long you've had your Audi and who and where you've take it to, to keep it in Top Shape.
