President Goodluck Jonathan will leave Abuja this evening to join other world leaders in South Africa at events leading up to the burial of former President Nelson Mandela.

A statement by the special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, Sunday,  said President Jonathan will attend the Memorial Service for Dr. Mandela on Tuesday at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

He said the President, who will be accompanied by the Supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, will in the company of other Heads of State and Government, also pay his last respects to Dr. Mandela at the anti-apartheid hero’s lying-in-state on Wednesday at the Union Building in Pretoria where he served as South Africa’s first democratically-elected President.

At the conclusion of the event in Pretoria on Wednesday, President Jonathan will leave for Nairobi to honour a long-standing invitation to be a guest of honour at Kenya’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

Good for him. Afterall he is our "Nigerian Mandela". Sitting with ASUU for discussions for 13hrs is not a joke. No other Nigerian president has done it, so therefore he is Mandela reincarnate.

Safe journey to our president, but he shouldn't forget to emulate late President Mandela in selfless service to our dear country where he has been elected to serve his people.

Each time he travels he collects allowance so that is why most Nigerians in power are always travelling on one official thing or the other.

So he travels because of the allowances? Come on. You should be more reasonable.

A meeting of FG and ASUU is slated for wednesday, Oga Jona is sending signals that the memorial service is more important than the our students who have been home for over 5 months.
