Good move. It will be nearer where my mansion is going on. Olokoro outskirts with a route to the Aba-PH highway will be the best central location that can easily service Abians outside the East from the Ukwa Ngwa and Ohafia-Arochukwu axis. A number of Ebonyians from Afikpo-Uburu, Ishagu will equally make use of it.

Whether the poorly performing gov likes it or not Abia must be good and remains God's Own State.

Don't mind the myopic Governor. Instead of building the Airport at Osisioma or Ugwu-na-Agbo nearer to were the targeted users reside and do business.

Anyway, it will be good for a State Standard Stadium.

Tell your governor that we don't need an airport in Umuahia. Owerri airport is nearer to Aba than Olokoro and easily accessible from other parts of Abia. He should use that money and revive/expand our water system in Umuahia, Aba,Aro and other towns and villages. He should give Ariaria a facelift and use our money in the order of importance.

Each time I go to Umuahia, I don't go about wishing that I had used an airport in Umuahia instead of the one in Owerri. Enugu- Umuahia road is smooth except for a 5km stretch just before Okigwe, therefore Abians that live towards IsuIkwuato and Aro may choose to use Enugu or Owerri airport in exchange for good roads and water supply. No part of Abia is up to 80 KM from an airport.

How about using that money to revive Golden Guinea Breweries or complete the metallurgical complex in Aba or do some other stuff that need doing ? Does he drink kai kai for breakfast or what?

Well, I will blame Olokoro people if they don't resist the blatant misuse of their land. The reason I like Imo people, especially Owerri people is that their governors have limits, which they cannot cross and we need to wake up in Abia.

We're talking of at least $100 million about to be spent on state that is in dire need of bringing its major cities of Umuahia and Aba up to date and dragging them into the 21st century; a state that can access Enugu, Owerri, Uyo and Port Harcourt airports in less than 30 to 50 minutes (depending on where you set out from)! In light of the aforementioned, is this airport top on the list of what Abia state needs right now?

How about spending the money on doing up Aba inner-city roads in preparation of the expected influx of investors and visitors when the anticipated regular power supply arrives? The money could be spent on Abia state university; or on selected public primary and secondary schools in the state, to bring them up to the standard seen in Rivers state; or on water schemes for Aba and Umuahia; or on modern housing estates in Aba; or on Ariaria market......equipping it with good roads, uniformed/decent lock-up stalls, a conference/exhibition centre, a warehouse, and about 2 twin 10-story highrise office blocks that would change the Aba skyline and could be used by banks and other firms wanting to be located in such a bustling and thriving area!

To be a performing governor in a state like Abia is not that difficult! All it needs is selfless service, vision, desire to improve the lot of your people, a sense of pride......and an absence of sticky fingers!

finally Gov. Orji is doing something commendable. Abia airport will thrive there is a lot going on in Aba alone to keep this airport going. He should start now to decide what additional business besides passenger travel to add to the airport be it perishable cargo, hotels,Maintenance facility etc.
Kudos to gov. orji on this move.

I know he will not be able to complete an airport when he has just 17months to go in his tenure. He should start the project to an appreciable level so it will be easier for the next administration to complete it.

Every state in Nigeria that can afford it, should build a standard airport. Bauchi and jigawa states has just proven that to build a standard airport thats geared towards passenger travel a state does not need to break a bank to do so. they used N8B and N11Billion respectively for their airports. Thats about 10% of annual budgets of an average state in Nigeria, spread into 4 yrs tenure that 2% of annual bubget X 4yrs its totally doable.
