The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah,on Tuesday, said the report of the House of Representatives, which investigated the N255million cars scam never recommended her resignation or even told President Goodluck Jonathan to sack her.

She said this during her inspection of the remodelled Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

Oduah, said what the House recommended was for the presidency to review some of the things in the sector.

Speaking on the remodelled airport, Oduah assured that the airport would be commissioned before the end of first quarter of 2014, adding that other airports across the country would equally be completed and opened for use before the second quarter of 2014.

“We want to start the use of these facilities by the end of first quarter. What is very key is that passengers’ travel experience will be very different, which means you have the comfort, the safety, security and most importantly, you increase the capacity, which means you have ample space to do what you are supposed to do.

“Nigerians should expect the airport that was promised them, aviation that would be catalyst to the nation’s growth, aviation that has been repositioned and most importantly, an aviation that will create jobs and skills for Nigeria aviation. Ours is to maximize the capacities that have not been maximised all these years.”

She informed further that some airports which were under remodelling like the Owerri airport, Sokoto, Akure, Yola and other airports were ready and in use, adding that from January next year, all the airports would be commissioned.

On the national carrier, Oduah said that plans were underway to recommend a national carrier for the country, saying that it was confronted with some challenges but assured that a national carrier would be given to the country very soon by the Federal Government.

She said, “We want to give the country a national carrier that the nation will aspire to have and the one that would be the true representation of all of us. The one that can be bought from the market and the one that will be professionally managed.”
