Hello ppl

The proposed national confab slated for 2014 is already gathering momentum. I'm sure we all have different opinion to the way our country should be run nonetheless, if you were invited as one of the delegates to the confab and you're given the chance to make 3 recommendations on how Nigeria should be run in a better way (excluding any idea that would mean d breakup of Nigeria) what would be your suggestions?

I'll start 1st........

1) All political office holders must enrol their kids in govt schools in Nigeria and their medical treatment must be in govt hospitals in Nigeria alone while serving as political appointees or elected govt officials

2) The power of authority over the Nigeria Police should be moved from the executive to the judiciary! We all remember the case of the Rivers state house of assembly where the police have insulted the legislative institution and harassed elected legislators (regardless if their action is right or wrong). This will curb the excesses of the executive.

3) The 4th level of d executive arm (councillors) should be scrapped and the traditional rulers should be used as d replacement. I understand that after Nigeria became a republic, the traditional institutions were all dropped but they are still accepted by our society. Traditional rulers still perform similar roles (if not better) to councillors hence, they should be adopted as a better replacement for councillors. It will reduce d cost of running govt cos I'm aware councillors are paid about 150k monthly and there are about 10,000 elected councillors in Nigeria which sums up to N1.5billion for their salaries. This money can be used in other sectors.
