Fraud In Imo: IGP, EFCC Attention Called! by blesseffy: 10:58am On Jan 08, 2014
In what appears to be a systematic set-up to drain the wealth of Imo state government, the attention of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the EFCC has once again been drawn to the N3.6bn contract fraud scandal. In a fresh petition filed to the office of the IGP by the Spaniard businessman, Jose Marin Lopez-Pepe through his counsel David ‘Diya Ashaolu of Velma Solicitors, seeking to keep the record straight about the N3.6n contract fraud scandal.

More is yet to be accounted for over the N1.2 Billion Naira, the 30% of the contract sum, released by the Imo state government for the project as take-off grant.

Going by the series of information that has been made public;
Only N450 million has been alleged to have been confiscated by the Spanish bank, what is the where about of the 750 million?
While the project has been declared failed

The Spanish government has reportedly taken some measures including freezing of the said money, as a zero-tolerance measure against corruption, what about Nigeria authorities?

Key Zenith bank staff (account officers), were allegedly indicted in the earlier petition to the EFFC, what happened after was?
If such degree of fraud still happen in our modern day banking, Central Bank of Nigeria most be sleeping, was this not the genesis of the scandal?
Imo state government functionaries were allegedly indicted in the earlier petition to the EFFC, what sanctions and actions have been taken?
These are still the same crop of persons managing the affairs of the state.

Why also is Mr. Emmanuel Benjamin Emenike, Managing Director of Hormipresa Group Limited, exonerated from this scandal and allowed to move very freely in convoy of his recently acquired fleets of exotic cars and with numerous properties acquired to himself while the Imo peoples’ project failed?

Is Mr Jose Marin Lopez-Pepe, truly a director of HORMIPRESA GROUP LIMITED as reported by Leadership Newspaper and some other media houses? Why would a Managing Director of same company cry foul and accuse his co-director of same crime he is guilty of… “Something is fishy”?

Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) should prove this!
Who is defrauding who in Imo state? Who has eaten the money, the Spaniard or Government instruments, bank officer or the MD of Hormipresa Group?

Imo people demands true accountability! Put the puzzles together, dear IGP
Why in the first place was a case of such magnitude deviated for an out-of-court settlement, with clearly pending matters arising from the EFCC?

Many thanks to the Spanish bank for singularly raising the alarm to the suspected money laundering; this is a clarion call to well meaning Nigeria to hold public officers accountable, do well to declare your stand with your comment box below this article.
