^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ My Heart Will Trust [Hillsongs] ~ I'll walk closer now on the higher way Through the darkest night will You hold my hand Jesus guide my way ~ O You mourn with me and You dance with me For my heart of hearts is bound to you ~ Though I walk through valleys low I'll fear no evil By the waters still my soul, my heart will trust in You My heart will trust in You ~ O You counsel me and You comfort me When I cannot see You light my path ~ Though I walk through valleys low I'll fear no evil By the waters still my soul, my heart will trust in You My heart will trust in You ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ My heart will trust in you Lord even when I don't fully understand The things that happen in my life. I will hang on to you. Oh, Abba, who else can I run to? Who else can I trust like I trust you? It is better to trust you than to put my trust in humans Because humans can fail me But you cannot fail me Lord you cannot fail me Because it's not in your nature You are a God that changes not Lord, my prayer is this: Give me the grace, Abundant grace to continue trusting Even when doubt bites at me And my faith is rocked Father, let my faith not be shipwrecked Thank you Lord |

Another thing to consider in giving attention to His word is to remove everything that distracts us from studying, listening to and doing the word. Things like the cares of this life are thorns that choke the word in our lives (parable of the sower). They are as varied as issues of this life, some legitimate, some mundane and some unwholesome. They all compete for the attention we should give to the Word. Lord, grant us grace in the face of distractions that we may give attention to your word. Your word is life. Amen. |

WOW, this is really a great idea.Real cool people. One thing i thank God for is divine health. I realized that when u nurse ur sickness, acting all baby-ish over a simple fever, u are hindering God from working one it, but once u take control and realize that u are the son of the most high, heir to a throne, and u speak to the sickness, its over for it. After all, its been finished since the creation of the world, all sickness, oppression, sadness etc is finished. Except if christ did not die for our sins. |

Just a little story of mines: When I was in Nigeria, a pastor of mines (same namesake ) Once told me to always say this verse ( Psalm 121) before I sleep/ anytime am out late. Eventually, I've forgotten God's help He rendered me while I was in Nigeria, when I got back here. Things, somethings, that the pastor told me will happen eventually is happening (though I never take those pastors serious ) , things got worst. Well, all am saying is that, when you're in a problem, the only person to ask is God. When you get out of the problem, it does not give anyone the license to get out of a relationship you have with Him. I made the mistake of doing that, and I have witness its consequences (Health, personal, etc). Now, I don't even know why am telling this. But anywaz, now I clicked on this section yest, and saw the Queenisha's post (#82), and I checked out some verses and remembered Pastor Toyin's advice. I thought back my situation 3yrs ago when I was on vac in Nigeria, and things I've forgotten to do. I guess, al am saying is, it's easy to step away from God, but the consequence are all yours. God is our immunity, once we step away from him and lose immunity, all kind of bad doings/evil (I don't know if that's what I should call it), bad habit etc, easily comes in, with nothing to stop them. I'm not sure if this thread is a calling for me to get back to who I was 3 years ago, but I am sure that this thread is helping a lot with it's advice/ Bible verses. I just want to tell everyone thank you, and please keep them coming. I need all the help am getting, from anyone from anywhere. I need ME back, my relationship with God. Well, I can't believe I just left myself vulnerable, but right now, no harm can be done to me if I don't allow it. |

Ruby_Pearl: @Ruby_Pearl beloved, thanks for that story of yours. If all this thread is able to achieve is to bring you back to a vibrant relationship with the Lover of your soul, the Lord Jesus Himself, then its mission accomplished already. Thanks for sharing with us. And NO, you didn't leave yourself vulnerable, dear. You only heard the voice of the Father to come back home. Outside is full of filth. Don't stay out of His will. All things are yours inside your Father's house. There is peace and joy, fulfilment and satisfaction. Ruby Love, come back home. Come back home. Come back home, says your Lord. Remember the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-) He went away from the father to a far country and there wasted away in loose living. He strayed out of the confines of grace. Need I say he lost all. But one day, just like yours today, he came to his senses! Why would he live in sadness and penury when all things are freely his own in his father's house? See what he says: vs 18 'I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men."' Thank God that was not the end of the story. He actually did go to his father. What a father he has! He threw a welcome party for him. Hear what the father said, Ruby: vs 22 "But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; 23 and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; 24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate. Ruby dear, will you make your Heavenly Father glad this morning by returning to Him? He is waiting for you. In fact, He has been waiting for you since 3 years ago! Read the whole of that Luke 15 meditatively right now. I will pray along with you. Come on, Ruby, let's make the Lord happy!! Love you. |

You guys have embraced this and i can say its a positive step to living right and becoming more Christ-like everyday Focus On God 2 CORINTHIANS 4:18 NIV 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Many people are convinced they are too bad for God to help, or they have problems that are too big for God to handle. They seem to have more faith in their inability than they do in God's ability. They seem to have more faith in the problem than they do in God. This happens when we focus on the problem, instead of looking to God who is the solution. As long as we focus on the problem and let it consume our attention, we will have faith in it to defeat us. 1 JOHN 4:4 NIV 4 . . . the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. We have a choice in what we focus our attention on. The Old Testament contains an account illustrating how we must look to Jesus and His finished work on the cross, instead of looking at our problems. NUMBERS 21:4-9 NLT 4 Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey, 5 and they began to speak against God and Moses. "Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?" they complained. "There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!" 6 So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died. 7 Then the people came to Moses and cried out, "We have sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take away the snakes." So Moses prayed for the people. 8 Then the LORD told him, "Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!" 9 So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed! When deadly snakes are everywhere, biting people on every side, it would be extremely difficult to look up and focus your attention on a pole instead of looking down at the ground where the snakes were. But that is exactly what God instructed the people of Israel to do, and all who did were healed and lived. Some might wonder why a snake was put on the pole, which was a type of Jesus being hung on the cross. It was because Jesus took our sins on Himself when He hung on the cross. The Bible says that He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us. And on the cross, that old serpent the devil, was defeated and de-fanged! So, no matter how urgent the problem biting at your heels may seem, God's answer for you is to look up and focus on God's provision. Have faith in God! God is bigger than any problem you face and can deliver you from any situation, no matter how bad it is. JOHN 10:29 NIV 29 My Father . . . is greater than all . . . Instead of thinking of how bad you are, focus on how good God is. His goodness is more than enough to overcome your badness. Instead of looking at what you lack, look at all God has. And remember He is your Father and loves you. The devil tries to get us to focus on ourselves and our shortcomings, instead of focusing on Jesus and His ability to carry us through to victory. Whenever the focus is pointing to us, instead of to God, you can be assured the devil has some involvement in those thoughts. As long as you are focusing on yourself, you are not focusing on God. You have to make the choice. SAY THIS: I will focus my attention on God instead of on myself and my problems. |

God plus Me = God God minus Me = God But Life without Christ = Crisis So, it is I that need God, not the other way round. It is a personal choice but one with CONSEQUENCES! So choose carefully! |

Your Love and Your Grace Take, O Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my will; all that I have and possess. You have given them to me; to you, O Lord, I restore them. All things are yours: Dispose of them according to your will. Give me your love and your grace; for this is enough for me. St. Ignatius of Loyola |

Hello All, This is a welcome development. Please it is time we begin to focus on the Son of God alone and no longer tring to achieve the feats of our pastors and mentors. We should look only to the Lord and strive to be like Him. Only true and agape love with God and our fellow men can bring us into perfect unity with our Master, Jesus. there is a higher life in Christ than we are experiencing now. We can get their by love, we can experience his unlimited power through love. Love is the only way. Ask Him always to flood your heart with His love and be sure that all you do is motivated by love, then will the power of God be made available to you in no measure. Which book has impacted you the most? |

@Analytical Thank you I believe you're very much right. I've been dealing wiv somethings this week, and somethings I discussed wiv my mom this morning was just too much for me. Coming from a village were ehrrrm winch or w/e it is, is very dominant, lol, I think I do need to start stepping closer to God. A pastor had a revelation for me a while back, I tried and I did ignore it. I don't trust anyone, even Nigeria pastors, that much. So, I just didn't want to believe it. Been having a dream, almost same once, for a while. I talked to my mom about it, she broke it down to me. That she used to have same dreams and what my grandma told her. It's all so surprising and unbelievable. I just don't want to believe all this stuff! Well, you can't understand unless you understand where am coming from, who I am and what's happened before. I'm not sure of what to believe right now, but I am sure you're right But thank you for the verses, I really need them. |
Re: Nairaland Christian E-Fellowship by Gamine(f): 10:09am On Aug 14, 2008 |
Hi all!!! Word for da day!!! Jesus Is Lord! PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11 NKJ 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. No matter what it may seem like at times, Jesus Christ is Lord. He is ruler, boss, king: the One ultimately in charge. He just hasn't exercised His prerogative and taken charge of everything yet. Jesus is not currently micro-managing everything on earth. He is not responsible for every mistake, accident, and bad thing happening in the world. God has allowed mankind to "try things our way" so we may see the folly of going our own way in rebellion to God. But this won't last forever. God has a plan with a limited amount of time allotted for this part of history. Although God has set certain boundaries, basically human beings are now in control on earth. We are free to choose. Because we are free to choose, we bear the responsibility for the consequences of our chosen actions. All that is bad in the world today is the result of choices people made. God is not to blame. His only blame is that He allowed us the freedom to choose. One day Jesus will exercise His authority and put a stop to all evil. Not only that, but He will eliminate the curse and all its effects. He will make all things new, whole, and sound again. One day everyone will see and acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ. You have that privilege today. SAY THIS: Jesus Christ is Lord and I am glad! |

Hi all, God bless your good job on this thread. I'll endeavour to share a daily devotional excerpt on this thread. I have gotten so much encouragement from this particular devotional over the years. I hope it blesses som1. Cheers!: Thursday 14 August, 08 ‘CHOOSE FOR YOURSELVES.’ JOSHUA 24:15 NIV Our lives are like icebergs. Only 15% is visible; that’s reputation. The rest, our character, is below the surface, hidden. Character is what we think but never share. It’s what we do when no one’s watching. It’s how we react to everyday aggravations. It’s how we handle failure and success. The thing that has made us what we are is our choices. At the end of a successful career, Joshua challenges the people of Israel: ‘Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.’ So the choice is yours! French writer François de la Rochefoucauld asserted, ‘Almost all our faults are more pardonable than the methods we think up to hide them.’ Ever notice that people with the weakest character tend to place blame on their circumstances? They talk a lot about poor upbringing, financial difficulties and the unkindness of others or other circumstances that have made them victims. Your circumstances may be beyond your control but your character is not. You can no more blame your character on your circumstances than you can blame the mirror for your looks. Developing character is always your choice. Every time you make a character-based decision you take another step forward in your spiritual growth. Take a moment and jot down times when you have faced temptation and adversity. Next to each, note your choice: escape, excuses, capitulation, avoidance, perseverance or victory. What problem areas do you see? How will you learn to do better? If many of the things you list are due to circumstances beyond your control, then choose to take greater control of your life. http://gsafnigeria.org/devotional.aspx?dDate=8/14/2008 |
