We were told the honorable Ribadu was demoted because of irregularities and that due process was not followed to get his elevation to the rank of AIG confirmed.
'

Last week the president replaced all three service chiefs without confirmation from the national assemble.

QUote" Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has faulted the appointment of recent service chiefs by President Umaru Yar‘Adua, describing it as unconstitutional and illegal.

Keyamo said that under the 1999 Constitution, the President could only appoint the service chiefs with the approval of the the National Assembly, stressing that since the latest appointment was not confirmed by the nations lawmakers, the appointment was null and void.

Keyamo disclosed this in a statement he made available to our correspondent on Sunday.

In the statement, Keyamo stated that the power to appoint service chiefs, which is provided for under section 218 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution empowered the president to make the appointments in consonance with the Armed Forces Act of the National Assembly."

There are two difference law in Nigeria. The Lawless Law and The Animal Law.

Rule of law my foot. Yar'adua is the most confused president in the world today.

I doubt if he is the one ruling Nigeria.

I check keyamo statement. keyamo is wrong.  i think the president is allowed to appoint them without the national assembly. Which is one of the things wrong with the constitution. he should not get absolute power to do that. The national assembly most be made to have input into such a thing that involve national security.

what if we have another abacha ?/ what if we may have a lunatic as president in future. We have to have something in the constittution to stop that. What if the president appoint his blood brother as chief of army staff.

@Nigeria1@; if anyone is wrong it is you. the National assemble does have the power to confirm and the president can appoint or nominate a candidate for the 4 service chiefs in Nigeria.

It is clearly define in the constitution

So why is the NASS quiet? Are they saving it as impeachable offence that can be use to oust the president in future?
