Twelve years ago, as a group of
high profile polytechnic
students, these five babes,
Higher Diploma Final students,
met this 'Money Miss Road' as
they called him, (A clause used
in Nigeria to qualify someone
who is rich but doesn't deserve
the riches), in one occasion
where the man came with his
own food and drinks. Funny but
true.
As the babes sat, waiting for
occasion attendants to attend to
them, it was clear to them that
nobody had their time. Things
were passing and nobody
looked at them. Trust big girls,
they will starve to death rather
than call for food in a large
occasion. They just sat and
continued to wait.
Somewhere close to them, sat
this man who has been
answering calls since he
entered, arguing and shouting
over remitted/unremitted
millions, confirmed/
unconfirmed credits. They kept
looking at the funny man.
Finally, the man called one of
them and explained that when
he decides to attend any
occasion that he will always get
his own food, drinks and water.
In most cases, his food and
drinks will end up helping many
people in the occasion. The very
babe he called wanted to
understand the relevance of the
information and the man
confirmed he came prepared.
He gave them his car key and
directed them to where his car
is parked. They got there to see
a state of the art jeep. They
opened the trunk and brought
all that he asked them to bring-
coolers of rice/chicken, another
of plates and spoons, another of
assorted drinks and water.
As they settled down to eat with
the man, many people joined
and the man's food, once again,
helped many people.
After the occasion, the man
collected their numbers. Ever
since then, once in a while,
maybe once every six months,
he will send a text message to
all of them asking them for their
bank account details. Each will
send, believing the message
came to her alone. They will
wait for the credit that will
never come. After a long time,
maybe three years or more, the
man will send another text to
them apologising that he
couldn't remit any money to
them the preceding time and
asked for the account details
again. They will send again and
nothing will happen.
Many of them got fed up with
the man and stopped giving him
any attention. Remember these
are now working class and
business ladies, etcetera.
Eventually four of them stopped
responding to him. Call this
man from now until next year
he will not pick. But if you send
him text, you will get an
answer. They ranked him a
strange man and cut him off.
Only one continued. Did you
read that? Others stopped.
ONLY ONE CONTINUED.
Now when the man asks for
their accounts, only one of them
will send. They all called her a
fool. What the hell are you still
doing fooling around with a
useless man- they lambasted
the lady. The lady said- as long
as he has not asked for anything
all these years but my bank
account details, I will continue
to give.
After twelve years, one Monday
afternoon, this lady got an alert.
Her account got credited with
four hundred million naira. She
nearly fainted. Now this lady
set out in search of this man,
she got to his place on
Wednesday only to be told that
the man died on Tuesday, a day
after crediting her account and
was buried immediately as he
wished.
She could not cry. The man
never got married in his life.
Just as this lady was pondering
what to tell the people, the
man's lawyer called her by her
exact names and she was
dumbfounded. The man had
adopted a boy and a girl just a
year ago and a hired nanny had
been taking care of them. Now
according to the lawyer, his
client has transferred
ownership of his castle and
everything to the lady that got
the big alert, with the humble
request that she should assume
responsibility as his 'widow',
the lady of the house, be a
mother and train these adopted
children for him. Now she could
not hold it anymore as tears
dropped from her eyes.
As a critical thinker, what do
