daveP: Ikogosi is a beautiful place en home to Gossy water.wish more was done to make it rival tinapa resort.

I believe the CONCEPT of both places are/should be different. Ikogosi should focus more on TRADITIONAL yoruba architecture with modern CONVENIENCES, that can be maintained/sustained easily, so as to stand APART and UNIQUE from other destinations.
Too much follow, follow e nor good!

myspnigeria: cool destinations....i wish the government cld spend more on tourism

Why government spending MORE. The government spent already creating the parks.
Private sector entrepreneurs should take it from there as is done in other oyoyo better places wey we dey go chillax while leaving our own fine fine places to waste away.

I was at IITA 2 weeks ago and explored the Lakes and had a walk in the forest. I will be doing Tinapa early August when i host my Company's AGM in Calabar. I did the Cattle ranch before they provided the rail cabs, i plan to find time and re-visit. But uppermost in my mind is the Ikogosi spot. I am planning on going there someday soon. I understand it is a driving distance from lagos. Essentially, i spend my time and vacation around this country. If you ever hear that i traveled out, trust me it must have been sponspored by my comppany for a training programme or something of that sort, never with my money. By the way, i understand that its cheaper to do a few days in the UK than it is to do same numbers of days at Obudu Cattle ranch (assuming no down-town purchases).

there'l be no need for the going traditional, its nt a museum.jst rivaling tinapa in the sense of its vibe and attraction is what i mean.olumo rock is suffering from what i call 'lack of upgrade and sustainable ideas'. Ikogosi is natural, but its part of its beauty.

Stay there. Westerners already come here for tourism. It is you that doesn't know what's going on. We don't even need foreigners to patronise these places. If Nigerians would get their heads out of London and Dubai and seek out nice places in Nigeria to spend their vacation, they would be spoilt for choice, and the tourism industry will expand significantly. But no. They prefer to go and receive insult at the British embassy just to see ancient buildings in Trafalgar Square and Oxford Street.

Re: Major Tourist Attractions In Nigeria by Nobody: 6:37pm On Jul 08, 2014
There is urgent need to develop the Nigerian tourism sector. It might not necessarily be for foreigners but can serve the interest of Nigerians oversea who wish to visit the motherland. My father is one of them.

Why can't Nigerians do something right for once? The potentials are there but no development and publicity to go with them. That is very sad no Nigerian is looking toward developing that sector.
