PDP Resolve Crisis Over Secretary Seat. by PhockPhockMan: 12:36pm On Jul 02, 2014
. The crisis generated by the tussle over the slot of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary, zoned to the South West has finally been resolved. The resolution was achieved at a meeting held in Abuja by South West leadership caucus on Monday night which stretched to the early hours of Tuesday. At the meeting called by one-time Deputy National Chairman of PDP,South West, Chief Olabode George, it was agreed that in the spirit of genuine reconciliation, support should be given to Professor Wale Oladipo to continue in office as PDP National Secretary. In the light of this, Oladipo would be ratified as the current NationalSecretary of PDP in the proposed National Convention of the party since opposition against him from his zone has finally been doused. It had been a long while since members of the PDP from South West held a meeting in which participants entered with the mindset of forging a common front aimed at promoting the political interest of the zone on all fronts .The Convener, Bode George, in his opening remarks sued for peace and understanding among the PDP leaders and members in the South West, stressing on the necessity for a bond among them, anchored on the need for all to work in unison towards winning all South West states in the 2015 general election. To demonstrate its seriousness about genuine reconciliation, the leadership caucus resolved unanimously to present only the current PDP National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo, for the post during the coming National Convention of the party. The choice of Oladipo had hitherto split the PDP in the South West amid plans to remove him from office by his co-contestants through a judicial process on allegations that his election was illegal. Both Chief Ebenizer Babatope and Professor Tunde Adeniran, two strong contenders for the post of PDP National Secretary, boosted the spirit of reconciliation at the meeting when they withdrew their interest in the slot, thus endorsing Oladapo to continue in office. Both Babatope and Adeniran said their withdrawal of interest in the race for PDP National Secretary position was motivated by the initiative of the PDP South West leadership caucus, which they said, would promote the interest of the zone in the overall politics of the zone, if encouraged. In his remarks, Babatope who initially spoke against the manner Oladipo was brought in as the PDP National Secretary said in agreement with the move for reconciliation among members of the party in the South West, he would immediately withdraw a case he had on the issue at Court 7, Abuja.Adeniran also told the meeting that he was initially displeased with the choice of Oladipo as PDP National Secretary, advising members of the party from the zone to always embrace due process on any issue of interest considered very germane to all.The Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, in his remarks hailed the initiative by the meeting on reconciliation, stating that he was fully in support of the decision to endorse Oladipo as PDP National Secretary.Fayose urged the leaders to brace up for the challenges of winning the remaining states of South West starting from Osun State. He described Osun as a gateway to the South West on 2015 matters, while pledging to play a leading role in ensuring the returnof the state and other states in thezone to PDP.He said, “Now that you have empowered us, I will take my structure to Osun. We must do theneedful to win Osun come August. It is time to show the world that APC is not on ground in the South West.”Fayose told the PDP South West leaders that he was eager for the party to win Osun because he would not feel secured being the only PDP governor in the entire South West.In his remarks, former Minister, Alhaji Jubril Martins Kuye, said the South West leaders must pay particular attention on Ogun State with a view to addressing the problem of factionalisation in the party. He expressed regrets that PDP in Ogun has been operating on four parallel platforms, each, accordingto him, competing for attention, a development he said would not augur well for the party’s desire to win the state in 2015.The PDP candidate for the August 9 governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, lauded the meeting for showing interest in re-invigorating PDP in the South West.Omisore vowed to do all in his capacity to win Osun back for PDP.The PDP National Secretary who spoke last said he was humbled by the outcome of the meeting of reconciliation at the instance of the South West PDP leaders. He vowed to put up an inspiring performance on behalf of the zone as the National Secretary of PDP.

Growth and development plans? In PDP's dictionary? Abeg talk something else. A party that spent 16 billion US dollars on the power sector with nothing to show for the huge amount, PDP is Boko Haram, Boko Haram is PDP.

This people are displaying the spirit of sportsmanship and maturity. This is what we need in Nigeria not just within the party alone, but also with other political parties, interreligiously and interethnically. Someone must step aside for one to note ahead.

And what exactly is the Job of the heads of ICPC and EFCC? Two anti corruption bodies whose heads are appointed by PDP led Federal government of Jonathan?
If somebody collect money to complete a project and he abscond, isn't it the job of those at the helm of affairs to exert the full force of law on such criminal?
So who are those at the helm of affairs that we are talking about?
PDP led Federal government which awarded the contracts should be the one going after the absconding contractors not the opposition that does not even have control over civil defence talk less of the police and EFCC
How many people have been jailed for the failed power projects?

The number of cases of corrupt elements is overwhelming for the anti-graft bodies.

Nigeria as a whole needs a crusade of killing corruption and corrupted individuals irrespective of political parties.

See below extract of previous corruption allegation leveled against Fashola corruption below:

•That Fashola spent N1.5 billion to demolish the Bank of Industry (BOI) building, paying a company introduced by one Tunji Olowolafe in cash transfer only for him and his cronies to claim the land adjacent to it.

•That Fashola government awarded part of Western Avenue (Funsho Williams Road), about two kilometres road for N7.7 billion without the construction of any bridge. The project was carried out by Julius Berger.

•That the Fashola government awarded the construction of a road and drainage inside Gbagada General Hospital for over N1.8 billion to DEUX Projects Limited owned by Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, a close friend of the governor.

•That the sum of 1.5 billion naira of un-appropriated fund was claimed to have been spent on demolition of Oshodi without approval.

•That the helicopter deal was a big fraud. The helicopter was not built for any kind of emergency evacuation, rescue or to even combat urban fire. Over N5 billion has been spent on the two helicopters. And, the seal of Lagos State is not on it, and it is not even in Lagos but in the Niger Delta making money for some private people in government.

•That the Fashola government recklessly increased and paid over 60% increase on the LASU – Iba road awarded by the Bola Tinubu government for N6.2 billion but was jerked up to N10 billion less than two weeks after the incumbent governor came on board.
