PDP, APC Bicker Over Ife Violence by Badex10(m): 9:17pm On Jul 07, 2014 |
Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC and its main challenger in the August 9 governorship election in Osun state, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Monday clashed in Gbodo and Ita Akogun area, both in Ile-Ife. Unconfirmed report claimed that one person was feared dead while several others received various degrees of injuries while properties whose value are yet to be determined are destroyed. The Peoples Democratic Party wishes to bring to the attention of the public ongoing attacks on members of the People’s Democratic Party and their properties in the ancient town of ILe Ife ,Osun state. The PDP alleged that it was APC that started “the coordinated attack on PDP members immediately after a purported rally of the APC addressed and coordinated by an Honorable member”. But this allegation was immediately countered by the APC who also accused the PDP of causing crises in different parts of the state in its efforts to win the forth coming governorship election in the state . Specifically, the PDP in a statement by the Director of Media and Strategy to Senator Iyiola Omisore, prince Diran Odeyemi alleged that “more than six vehicles belonging to innocent PDP members have been destroyed, countless numbers of shops razed and looted and several members of our party beaten and matcheted”. ” We have implored our members to remain law abiding while we have notified the police and other security agencies of this unwarranted attacks on innocent PDP members who are going about their lawful business” . “We condemned in the strongest possible language repeated coordinated attacks on our supporters by the APC. Today’s attack will be the seventh since the commencement of this campaign and our party has lost men and millions of properties in return”. “We have refused to retaliate but we call on security agencies to deal firmly with the culprits who are known by their repeated incitement of people to violence . ” The security agencies have sufficient information on the activities of political thugs financed with state fund and openly supported by the state government. It is time to act against these hoodlums who want to turn our peaceful state into a battle ground” . “For us in PDP ,we remain committed to peaceful election because we have the trust and confidence in the capacity of our people to vote rightly Nd wisely against violent leaders masquerading as omoluabis”. But APC in its own statement by its Director Publicity, Research and Strategy Mr Kunle Oyatomi read in part “it is a pity that the PDP is looking for power that it can’t give itself. We have nothing to fear in Ile Ife. And this was demonstrated at our maiden mega rally right at the centre of the ancient town. “People came in their thousands and show support and solidarity in a manner that any first timer in Ile Ife would readily believe and truly so, that Aregbesola has no competitor in the State”. “Before Omisore stepped into the arena, Osun has been peaceful under Aregbesola. But a potentially treat to violence surfaced with Omisore over interest in becoming governor. “The question all intelligent people should ask themselves is how can a government of APC that is conscious of critical relationship between peace and development turn round to create violence to stall the very same socio and environmental development it has brought about in Osun? “In whose interest therefore is violence necessary in Osun if not the PDP? Accusing the APC of violence is PDP’s antics to divert attention from its own criminality”, he added. |

One thing I hate about Omisore's rascality is how he do attack his fellow town people, this is how he did in 2011 by killing innocent family of Makinde on Election day.... 1 prayer for Omisore, You'll never leave this world unless you reap exactly what you sow. A guy was marchet on the head which was rushed to 7th day adventist hospital. The hold up gave me the opportunity to see all this. What are you saying. Was it omisore that came down to destroy cars and cause chaos in town. Mtcheww 3 Likes |
