I've always wondered why this is and I know most Nigerians are right handed but isn't it a bit unfair to lefties? I know handshakes are a bit different but I've actually seen someone apologize for giving someone money with his left hand (his right hand was holding a car battery). Or my favorite - say your right hand is damp and you wanna give something to someone, you'd support what your left is giving with your right hand under it. Beht why? Lol

I believe this is more attributed to religion than reality cos in nigeria and the world itself culture and religion works hand in glove..Biblically the right hand is regarded as a sign of strength and honor and also sitting at the right hand side of someone means u are highly honoured..like the christains believes that Jesus sits at the right hand of God which makes him next to God,Although the bible never mentioned left handed people as lesser people but people still believe the right hand is more honored..left handed people are not much in the bible, the most popular left-handed person in the bible is Ehud Judges chapter 3 and also Judges 20:16...the bible refers to left hand as an advantage cos people with left hand are mostly warriors....the left means plenty things in diff language - in latin left means sinister which means evil ,in french left is gauche which means awkward...in Local /traditional belief Right hand is called hand of peace

We are Africans....Receiving and giving with our right hands shows respect to the receipent irrespective of the age or level...It shows willfulness. I give and receive with my left hand also especially when my right hand is busy ATM (holding something, doing something), I offer apologies alongside to the giver or receiver in this case as a sign of respect too.

Giving or receiving things with the left hand is deemed rude. I think I boils down to our cultural disposition.

I guess it is a function of culture. In Africa, the right hand is more preferred than the left and I think it is catching on in the West, too.

Because culture and religion considers it respectful, which makes it ethically right.

The right hand is more honorable, left hand is awkward. People have conditioned their minds to these beliefs.

Same way I wonder why sex between consenting adults is a Sin, yet mimmicking canibalism isnt.
