EXPOSED: Vanishing Ink Used To Massively Rig Ekiti Elections To Favor PDP by Idrico(m): 12:03pm On Jul 18, 2014
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is challenging the election of Mr. Ayodele Fayose at the tribunal and asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to nullify the polls which saw Mr. Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) returned as winner. The APC is also demanding that fresh elections be conducted in the 16 Local Government Areas of the State due to sundry electoral infractions.

“The petitioner avers that the election was marred with irregularities that are unprecedented in the annal of elections in this Country as “photo chromic” and “thermo chromic” ballot papers already programmed to favour the 1st and 2nd Respondents in all the polling units, were used”, the petition document reads in part.
The APC also held that the Governorship election which held on June 21st in Ekiti State was scientifically rigged to hand undue advantage to the PDP candidate in the election, Mr. Ayo Fayose.

“The petitioner avers in similar vein that, the election was scientifically, systemically or methodically rigged with the programmed Ballot papers designed for the nefarious and despicable acts of rigging out the petitioner, in fulfillment of the desperate bid of the PDP government at the centre to win the Ekiti State Governorship election of 21st June, 2014.

“The petitioner avers that the Presiding officers in all the Polling units throughout the Local Government Areas in the State carefully and strategically folded the Ballot paper into two, vertically, to activate the concealed and programmed thumbprint impressions on the Ballot papers.

“The petitioner also discovered that the ink used during voting was not an indelible ink as provided for by the Manual for Election Officials 2014, rather a vanishing ink was used in all the polling units. The thumb printing done with the vanishing ink on the programmed Ballot papers will only appear faintly AND DISAPPEAR WITHIN FEW MINUTES because the Ballot papers used were photo chromic and thermo chromic, and glossy in nature and as such they could not retain ink beyond the programmed time.

“The petitioner will, through forensic and finger print Experts and other experts /analyst demonstrate in the open Court that, such thumb impression will dry off within few minutes after exposure to the light, while the folding of the Ballot papers into two vertically by the Presiding officer before thumb printing by unsuspecting voters will activate the already concealed and programmed thumb print impression.

“The petitioner states that during the election of 21st June, 2014 in Ekiti State, every ballot paper was deliberately placed face down by the INEC officials to prevent premature exposure to light/radiation before being handed over to voters.

“The petitioner states that folding the ballot paper into two vertically generates heat that activates the already programmed and concealed thumb-print impressions on the ballot papers and such appeared boldly and visibly during sorting and counting than the original faint thumb-printed impression during voting”, the party said.

The APC also cited the alleged militarization of the Ekiti polls to back up its petition.

“There are 12 wards in Ado Ekiti Local Government. Election in all the wards was marred by substantial non compliance and irregularities.

“Your petitioner states that in all the twelve wards of the said local Government majority of the petitioner supporters who were eligible to vote and willing to vote were prevented from voting by a special security outfit comprising of men of the Nigeria Army, Department of State Security, NDLEA, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps and Custom Services.

“Your petitioner states that the said special Security outfit went about on the day of the Election harassing and arresting the petitioner’s leaders and key supporters in all the wards and polling units in Ado Ekiti Local Government by randomly arresting the petitioner’s supporters on their way to the polling units, on the queue to cast their votes, in their homes, but in all cases before voting and thereby preventing them from voting.

“Your petitioner states that most of the petitioner’s supporters arrested in the manner described above were flogged and in most cases, taken to undisclosed locations only to be released after the close of election.

“Your petitioner states that in the wards and polling units in Ado Ekiti Local Government, the Ekiti State governorship election held on 21/6/2014 was marred by violence perpetrated by the special security force described above purposely aimed at scaring away petitioners’ supporters from polling booth”.

The petition cited several electoral malpractices in most of the wards and LGAs in the State including cases of voter harassment and intimidation. There were instances of voters being beaten up by men of the Nigerian army.

The APC therefore prayed that: “It be determined and declared that the 2nd Respondent Peter Ayodele Fayose was not qualified to contest the Governorship Election held on 21st June, 2014 on the ground that he was found guilty of the contravention of the Code of Conduct by the impeachment panel set up by the acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State and the Ekiti State House of Assembly, consequent upon which he was impeached and removed from the office of the governor of Ekiti State in the year 2006.

“That it may be determined that the 2nd respondent presented a forged Certificate of Higher National Diploma (HND) of The Polytechnic Ibadan to the Independent National Electoral Commission, thus was not qualified to contest the election.

“That it be determined and declared that the 2nd Respondent Peter Ayodele Fayose was not duly elected or returned by the majority of lawful votes cast at the Ekiti State Governorship election held on Saturday 21st June 2014.

“That it may be determined that having regards to the non-qualification of the 2nd respondent to contest the election, the 3rd respondent ought to have declared the candidate of the petitioner John Olukayode Fayemi, who scored the highest number of lawful votes cast at the election as the winner of the election.

“An order of the Tribunal withdrawing the Certificate of return issued to the 2nd Respondent by the 3rd Respondent and present the Certificate of Return to the Candidate of the petitioner John Olukayode Fayemi who scored the majority of valid votes cast and having met the Constitutional Requirements as required by law.

In the alternative, the APC is requesting “an order nullifying the Governorship Election held on 21st June, 2014 and that a fresh election be ordered”.

The respondents in the suit are the PDP, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Chief of Defense Staff.

Ayo Fayose’s ISREALI - MADE VICTORY -
~By Lanre Oguntoyinbo

In the aftermath of the Ekiti election, a lot has been said to be the reason why the rather ‘performing’ incumbent Governor of that state, John Kayode Fayemi, lost to the former Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who is said to be a looter and a murderer. Some who are happy that Fayose won the election have also declared that though he’s their Governor but they don’t want him as their child’s role model but they would rather want their child to emulate the gentility and educational prowess of the incumbent Governor John
Kayode Fayemi. I wonder how that makes any sense. You don’t want him as your child’s role model but you want him to be your Governor?! Funny country!
Probably, the last may have not been heard of the Ekiti election. The ‘loser’ conceded defeat; hence some political analysts had called him a honourable man who is rewriting the political scripts of Nigeria’s polity. Some argued that he did that to allow peace to reign as the results of the election could incite violence, given the militarisation on ground by the by the Presidency before, during and after the election. However, a third group believe he was too quick to make that concession, saying Fayemi sold his lunch to the dog because of his gentility as the election was massively rigged and it might look free and fair but too far to be credible. One important point that’s being raised amongst the political class in Ekiti State is that the election was ‘photochromically’ rigged. The political party that sponsored the incumbent Governor; APC (All Progressive Congress) said the PDP (People’s Democratic Party) that sponsored the Governor-elect used a high-tech electoral malpractice system that has never been witnessed or used in Nigeria to rig the
election. During my investigations, I then realised that indeed there was ‘photochromic’ ballot papers and these ballot papers were used in Zimbabwe. Robert Mugabe, who has performed woefully in office and known to be a dictator and whom almost lost his re-election in 2008 but enjoyed landslide victory in July 31 Presidential election. International observers and oppositions as declared that Mugabe’s victory is ‘Made In Israel’.
ISREALI CONNECTION:
It’s no news to many Nigerian that the PDP-led government at the centre are deeply involved with many
Israeli deals, especially under this administration of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. We have read how
Israelites are the one handling security outfits in Aso Rock to how they are awarded billions in contracts by this same government to monitor activities of Nigerians on internet especially Facebook and Twitter after the Occupy Nigeria protests. Reports also revealed that high delegations of Nigeria’s Presidency are
always going in and out of Israel to strike deals that will turn Nigeria to a one party state.
The company NIKUV is Israeli owned. It features majorly in electoral malpractices and African countries are
their major client; countries like Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Botswana, Ghana and
Lesotho. The company footprint was noticed in Africa in 1996 when the company was taken to court in
Zambia on allegation of election rigging.
This company have been in Zimbabwe for years and it also has standing relationship with Tobaiwa
Mudede who is the registrar general of Zimbabwe whose office controls the production of Identification and electoral materials in Zimbabwe.
NIKUV is also friends with Army Generals or Security Intelligence of state they operate from.
PHOTO-CHROMIC MIGHT HAVE BEEN USED IN EKITI
Findings reveal that high-tech rigging materials that are alien to Nigeria’s system was used to rig Ekiti
election. A considerable portion of the ballot papers are said to be photochromically made. Photochromic
ballot papers are deplored with the use of strange but special ink in an already patterned ballot paper
which takes the thumb-printed ink straight to the marked columns, regardless of wherever a voter must
have voted in the first place.
Also, report on ground from those that voted in Ekiti seems to corroborate the photochromic theory; as it
was revealed that the electoral officers in each polling booth would fold ballot papers in a rather funny bend
before giving to electorate to exercise their franchise which has never been done in history of voting in
Nigeria. It’s therefore revealed that such folding of the ballot papers is believed to have been done to
prepare the paper for a swift movement of the ink within 50sconds to 2 minutes after voting to the already
programmed column to suit their already written results.
One major instance that made me believe in the photochromic theory is what happened in the polling booth
of Engr. Olusegun Oni a former Governor of the state and a chieftain of APC.The leader went to his polling
unit to vote in same unit with his wife, children and other relatives numbering about 11. Surprisingly, when
the result was announced, APC had just one vote from that unit. The question is; was it that Segun Oni who
is APC’s Vice Chairman South-West and family voted for PDP? Is the incumbent Governor that bad that
nobody in that area who are sympathetic to his style of Governance? Even the gluttonous and corrupt Alao
Akala never got it that bad in the election that removed him as Oyo State Governor.
Also, one has to look at the performance of the incumbent Governor who has transformed the state and
fixed major roads linking Ekiti State and other neighbouring states. He has reduced tensions due to
assassinations in Ekiti with his gentleman kind style of governance, unlike when the Governor-elect was in
power. He has succeeded in transforming Ekiti State to a better state than what she used to be. So with all
his achievements, which political analysts and observers are said to have surpassed that of his
predecessors, it is without doubt the election was technically rigged and the issue of photochromic
materials is safe to be adjudged to be a true.
If APC does not challenge this election in court, same might be repeated in Osun. In fact, it isadvisable for
political actors to call for the inspection of voting materials before they are used for an election.
As it concludes its plan to make Nigeria a single party state, the PDP federal government has so much
eaten deep into our collective treasury cake; therefore, most Nigerianssuffer from extreme poverty. The
PDP is now using ‘stomach infrastructure’ formula to gain access to our treasury(especially in South
West). If they succeed, it’s going to be massive setback to development recorded in our democracy over
the years.
I hope Nigerians can use their tongue to count their teeth and not using the personal hatred or dislike for
one man to judge the services of some patriotic foot soldiers who are passionate with the rescue mission
they are embarking on. We need a rethink as it is dangerous sleeping on the bicycle.
As it stand, I do not believe the election in Ekiti was free and fair.No one convince me that Ayodele Fayose
won that election; I believe and take it that Foyose’s victory was ‘Isreali-Made.’

Seun I surely believe this thread will be moved to the FP, if it's PDP news it's always on the FP ASAP, such as when APC motion on this same Ekiti election petition was struck out this week.

Let see if Nairaland is now pro-PDP or still neutral.

Jeeezshocked shocked shocked

It was obvious there was a massive flaw in Ekiti.... a state of sound intellectuals and learned people.... to go ahead and vote for a criminal just for a plate of rice and #1000 .

APC definitely wasnt that bad with Fayemi in Ekiti....but with soldiers and all security agents deployed to block critical observers.... then such farce could hold successfully.

Shame on you PDP.

Though I don't symphatise with any part, I'm still wondering how an incumbent can lose so woefully in his hometown.
Its just not right.
I know something was wrong.
Ekiti people, if u feel u were denied ur voice, come out en mass and protest.
Make serious noise and cause commotion so it will be cancelled.

APC ARE JUST BUNCH OF LIARS. THEY STILL WANT TO WIN IN EKITI AFTER INSULTING THE SENSIBILITY OF THE EKITI PEOPLE. SO IT GOES LIKE THIS. EKITI PEOPLE VOTE IN FAVOUR OF APC; THEN THEY ARE REASONABLE AND INTELLIGENT PEOPLE BUT WHEN THEY VOTE IN FAVOUR OF THE PDP THEN THEY ARE ACCUSE OF VOTING FOR THE STOMACH. ARROGANT BUNCH OF HUMAN BEING. APC WILL NEVER WIN EKITI AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN WITH SUCH ARROGANCE FROM THEM.

This is very interesting, let us wait and see where it will end. Before the election I went to Ado Ekiti I asked a friend of mine who is supporter of the Gov. Elect if he can emulate the Gov. Elect. He told me never but they want him as Governor. Then I asked myself where are we heading to if I cannot look up to a leader as a mentor.

Ok its stuff like this that makes the APC lose respect in the eyes of neutrals, how pathetic, even the APC lawyers don't believe the rubbish they presented, here's the US response to the election
Statement from the US Embassy in Nigeria

We congratulate the many electoral stakeholders for the successful conduct of the June 21 #Ekiti gubernatorial election. The Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) oversaw a credible, efficient process, and by all accounts the result reflected the will of Ekiti’s voters. The security forces collaborated effectively and provided a safe and secure environment free of major incidents. The parties and their supporters acted responsibly during and after the election, and the magnanimity exhibited by all candidates afterwards speaks highly of them and the people of Ekiti. That more than fifty percent of registered voters turned out to make their voices heard bodes well for the future of Nigeria’s democracy.
https://nigeria.usembassy.gov/statement_06232014

A serious party would take the result as a wake up call and not waste time with unintelligible accusations even kids don't believe, I guess the Ekiti people who were jubilant and happy at the governor's loss were induced as well, Heck even Falana a most ardent Fayemi supporter agreed he lost cleanly, no story here. Propaganda gets you no where, real politicking does.

For those PDP saying its not possible

Russian Voters Defrauded With Invisible Ink
Hardly a week after Russia held regional parliamentary elections on March 1st, electoral monitors are bringing forth the sneakiest scandal to strike the country’s electoral system. As the Gazeta.ru online newspaper reports Tuesday (Rus) the alleged fraud involves something most commonly found in a practical joke catalog. Just Russia, a minority political party, claims that voters were given pens filled with disappearing ink, with the result that any vote recorded would simply fade off the ballot. Blank ballots are considered invalid under Russian law.

Nikolai Levichev, who leads the Just Russia fraction in the State Duma, said his party’s observers noticed the faulty pens in 6 polling places in the southern city of Volgograd. Levichev showed journalists videotape from one polling center that seemed to back his assertion.

In the video, an older pensioner fumbles near the ballot box, suddenly noticing that her ballot selection has disappeared, leaving her with a blank slip.

The pensioner turns to an incredulous election worker, who uses a pen from the ballot booth to write “I don’t believe you,” on the ballot. Several minutes later, the phrase fades from sight, much to the surprise of astonished onlookers.

A ballot count later found 285 invalid slips at the polling place, most of them blank. A recount, conducted upon request from a local candidate from the pro-Kremlin United Russia party, was even more shocking. Conducted on March 8th, the recount found an extra 206 votes for the United Russia party. Levichev asserts that ballots that were initially blank now had “writing and graphical representations made with the same handwriting.” In such a way, United Russia may have been trying to make a safety net and ensure that it received a certain percent of votes in the election, Levichev said.

Just Russia is not the first party to assert that disappearing ink was used in the recent elections. The two other parties in Parliament, the Russian Communist Party (CPRF) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), expressed identical concerns. “Our observers recorded similar violations in tens of polling stations in the [Volgograd] oblast,” said Sergei Ivanov, an LDPR deputy.

Russia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC), which oversees elections, said that using invisible ink did not formally violate any laws, suggesting that the tactic was a sort of loophole. As of yet, the Commission had not formally looked into the allegations.

CEC member Igor Borisov told Gazeta.ru that electoral law dictates that polling stations must contain a pen, but that the law does not define what the composition of the ink must be.

“Although truth be told, we understand a pen to be a means of writing, whose mark does not rub off,” he clarified. “That is to say, for instance, it can’t be a pencil.”

Just Russia says it will consider all its options in the near future, and that it is prepared to take the matter to court. They’re probably hoping the case won’t simply disappear.

Invisible ink, also known as security ink, is a substance used for writing, which is invisible either on application or soon thereafter, and can later be made visible by some means. Invisible ink is one form of steganography, and it has been used in espionage. Other uses include anti-counterfeiting, property marking, hand stamping for readmission, fun children's games, and marking for the purpose of identification in manufacturing.

Invisible ink can be applied to a writing surface with a specialty purpose stylus, stamp, fountain pen, toothpick, calligraphy pen or even a finger dipped in the liquid. Once dry, the written surface looks as if it were blank, with a similar texture and reflectivity as the surrounding surface.

The ink can be later made visible by different methods according to the type of invisible ink used. The ink may be revealed by heat or by application of an appropriate chemical, or it may be made visible by viewing under ultraviolet light. Inks which are developed by a chemical reaction may depend on an acid-base reaction (like litmus paper), reactions similar to the blueprint process, or any of hundreds of others. Developer fluids may be applied using a spray bottle, but some developers are in the form of vaporous, e.g. ammonia fumes used to develop phenolphthalein ink.

There are also toy invisible ink pens which have two tips—one tip for invisible ink writing, and another tip for developing the ink. Invisible ink is sometimes used to print parts of pictures or text in books for children to play with, always including a "decoder pen" which is used to show the invisible parts of texts or pictures, thus revealing answers to questions printed in regular ink or completing missing parts of pictures.

Security marker pens or UV Markers with fluorescent ink that glows when illuminated with a UV light is often used to invisibly mark valuable household items in case of burglary. There are especially security maker pens formulated for writing on non-porous surfaces such as glass, plastics, metals, etc. The inks that have been applied and can then be identified by using a black light or other UV light source. Security marker pens can be obtained commercially and are widely used as a crime countermeasure.

Some commercially available invisible inks glow very brightly, in a variety of colors, under UV light. This makes them suitable for use in readmission such as hand stamping.

There some invisible ink types that can only be invisible when applied to certain types of surfaces, but are still visible on others.

Some vendors now offer invisible ink for use in computer inkjet printers. Such inks are usually visible under ultraviolet light. Typical uses include printing information on business forms for use by the form processor, without cluttering up the visible contents of the form. For example, some United States Postal Service mail sorting stations use UV-visible ink to print bar codes on mailed envelopes giving routing information for use by mail handling equipment further down the line before delivery.

Very rarely, invisible ink has been used in art. It is usually developed, though not always.[1] There are artists who use the effect in conjunction with invisible and other reactive inks and paints to create a variety of effects when used in conjunction with UV lights.

An E2E voting system called Scantegrity II uses invisible ink to enable the voter to obtain a confirmation code only for the voted selection

Invisible ink: how they rigged the vote
Pens filled with disappearing ink. Hospital patients forced to vote in exchange for treatment. Students instructed to show their ballots to professors.

These are just some of the tricks used to skew Ukraine's disputed presidential election, observers say.

As the Supreme Court grappled for a third day today with the country's spiralling election crisis, legal experts, election monitors, and politicians said it could take weeks to unravel the knot of irregularities.

The Central Election Commission declared Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich the winner of the November 21 runoff for the presidency with a margin of 3 per cent - or some 880,000 votes - ahead of the top opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko.

International observers noted numerous election flaws and described them as blatantly counter to Ukrainian laws and international standards. Those allegations are the basis of the case the opposition has presented to the Supreme Court asking it to name Yushchenko the winner.

The examples filed to the Supreme Court focus on eight eastern and southern regions with more than 15 million votes, almost half of the total cast in the runoff.

Yushchenko's lawyers and observers pointed to turnout figures that exceeded 127 per cent in some precincts. Observers mainly attributed this to pro-Yanukovich activists who travelled across the country and voted many times as absentees.

"You can achieve 127 per cent ... if you have several well-organised groups to travel around," said Peter Novotny, the head of the 1,000-strong observer mission of the European Network of Election Monitors, who described the vote as "an outright fraud."

Prison officials were reported to have forced inmates to vote for the government candidate. One Western observer who spoke on condition of anonymity said some hospital patients were told to vote for a specific candidate if they wanted treatment.

Students said they were stripped of their right to a secret ballot, or face the loss of privileges.

"We had to, or we could have lost our rooms on campus" said Serhiy, a student from Yanukovich's eastern stronghold of Donetsk, who only gave his first name for fear of reprisals.

Ukraine's opposition has produced transcripts of telephone conversations between pro-Yanukovich officials, allegedly taped by Ukraine's Security Service, that purportedly document vote-rigging. One exchange, published on the Ukrayinska Pravda Web site, went like this:

Official 1: "Why is the voting rate in the Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk regions so low?"

Official 2: "We're increasing it now."

Official 1: "Don't drag things out."

The opposition also blamed the Central Election Commission for producing inaccurate voting lists. In the Donetsk region alone, observers registered over half a million more voters in the runoff than in the first round.

"We repeatedly demanded straight figures from the CEC. It didn't happen," Novotny said.

Yanukovich representatives have filed counter-complaints alleging fraud in Yushchenko's favour, mainly in western regions considered opposition strongholds. Charges included election day campaigning and ballot boxes shortages.

Stephen Sestanovich, a US observer from the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations, said his his delegation saw "the use of ink that disappeared in four minutes" - a practice that came to light when people started noticing some ballots in the transparent boxes were blank.

"We were also given a box of funny-looking purple pencils and told to leave them near voting booths in a (pro-Yushchenko) neighbourhood," Serhiy said.

"When we tried them, the ink disappeared after four or five minutes. Honestly! We thought that was funny," he said.

Violence was also employed, with many observers being threatened or beaten. A policeman guarding ballots was killed, and another was beaten in a separate incident.

Novotny said one group of his observers was held at gunpoint in eastern Ukraine. He declined to name the region because the observers were still there.

Monitors also noted the technique of "home-voting," a provision for the elderly, disabled and others unable to leave their homes. Between the Oct. 31 first round and the runoff, the number of voters who applied for home voting doubled, Novotny said.

Election officials were also reported to have simply allotted "entire piles of ballots" to Yanukovich, Novotny said. "We had cases where the entire vote-counting was over in less than 20 minutes."

Did those responding notice the source of the news.
I stopped reading after the first paragraph and looked at the source before wasting my time reading further and I wasn't a bit surprised that it was from a questionable source.

Now this is shameful. First you congratulate your opponent, then later accuse him of fraud?

When Fayemi acceded to defeat, APC supporters were saying he has done the honourable thing which the PDP can never do.

With this shameful allegation without an iota of evidence, what do you guys have to say?
