Twin Explosion Leaves At Least 72 Dead In Kaduna by Nobody: 4:59pm On Jul 23, 2014
Twin bomb explosions have left at least 72 people dead in Kawo and Alkali
areas of Kaduna, Kaduna State, North Central Nigeria on Wednesday.
At least 72 persons were killed after the fist bomb exploded in a car at Alkali road,
while the second exploded in Kawo area, close to the Division 1 of the Nigeria
Army.
The bomb was reportedly concealed in a red Volkswagen Golf car parked by the
road side and was detonated as a prominent cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s, convoy
drove past.
The sheikh, however, escaped unhurt.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but a terrorist group, Boko
Haram, will be the prime suspect, as they have carried out similar attacks in the
past in some states in the northeast.
The blast scattered debris and dead bodies on the Alkali road in the city.
Other reports say that cars and lorries loaded with goods are stranded on the
highway unable to cross the Ngala bridge.
Security personnel are already at the scene and trying to secure the area.
A New York-based human rights watch says at least 2,053 civilians have been
killed in an estimated 95 attacks during the first half of 2014, compared with 3,600
deaths in the first four years of the Boko Haram conflict.
The terrorist are demanding an Islamic state and an end to western education in
the region.
