But today (the first time he travelled by rail transport) he said,“I have every reason to be happy for my country, for the achievement we have recorded in this sector, and I have decided never to stop travelling by train.” |

She didn’t seem to have it so good and complained;“My experience in the train from Lagos is not fantastic because I stood from Ibadan to Ede before sitting. I have a seven year-old boy and the ticketing officers said I had to pay half ticket price which I did and if there was no way to carry him, he would have stood as well. 2 Likes |

Doctors on board? How much are they paid? I would love to do that on part time basis when the eastern railway service is restored Meanwhile, good to hear of improved railway services. Boko Haram or no Boko haram, GEJ is delivering on his mandate. 7 Likes |

There has been an improvement no doubt. The major problems they face there is the track. We only have one track from lagos to kano. This is not efficient and not flexible as two trains coming opposite each other might take long time to pass as one of them will have to pack to allow the other to pass. During the process of packing, track would have to be changed several times and this task is not easy and can take up to 1 hr if not more. But all in all there is an improvement. I ll rate it from 20% before to like 50% now. If only we could get one more track so that the two train would move swiftly without worrying about oncoming train which will also enhance the flexibility and ofc increase commuters turnout then I ll rate it 70% 2 Likes |

UnknownT: 22 hours?!!!!!!!! That's if I don't have anything else to do for 2 days. 22 hrs is for a journey between lagos-minna, to kano is about 33-36 hrs, beside the timing a journey by train is pleasant and worthwhile. |

Another issue is the recent increase in fare without improvement in service. Fares went up by about 70%, a journey on the Lagos MTT economy class wch was 150 is now 230, while a ride on the new coaches between Ijoko an outskirt of lagos and iddo is 700 naira. Ever since the introduction of new fare patronage have been low. A first class trip from lagos to minna is now 3000 from 1900, bearing in minding that similar trip by road is just 3500. They need to do more train derailment is also a issue. |

Have you built in the cost of possible accidents on the road considering the high rate of accidents on our roads? |

I have said it and will keep saying it. No APC ediot is expected on those trains. If you are caught, you will be hanged. If you have shame at all, you wouldn't dare to. Keep cursing and abusing GEJ, but dnt come close to the trains./ |

Sincere9gerian: I am a regular traveller by train, more than the perennial reporter that wrote this news. My last trip from minna was on the 7th of this month we left minna 8:30pm Monday nite and arrive lagos 7:15pm nxt day do the calculation. There have been time I spent more than 35hrs on the same trip to minna becos of the frequent derailment. |

With the current condition of our rail system, I doubt the OP will plan his family holiday like he has suggested in the write-up. |

Sincere9gerian: Nothing super about the train first class coach, only the presence of AC, which is also available in buses that I'll take a max of 12hrs to reach minna from lagos. The new first class coach is not in operation yet, according to NRC official the generator the have cannot power the coach. See Pix of the old 1st class

It's a good thing the trains are back on track in fact I'll be most grateful and happy if the eastern rail line will get to work asap because it'll be a huge plus to the economic growth of my community as there is a station there. Therefore, with all this huge write up you did op without any corresponding picture, I can only say that this Administration has only succeeded in doing something that somehow eluded the Obj administration for eight yrs otherwise no tangible or significant improvement compared to the investment that's been made in this sector by our Govt. Lastly, I beg to advice our youths to stop sacrificing good governance and best practices and services at the alter of celebrating mediocrity as a result of showing support or loyalty to party, ethnic or tribal affiliations; nothing stops us from having the best if we claim we are dedicated and determined because we have what it takes to provide the best amenities for ourselves. May God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |

Realdeals:Perhaps the whole thing should be privatised or better still, some of the services should be concessioned to the private sector for better management. The attitude of the average Nigerian to anything govt is very poor. |
