I notice that you guys use "si" for if in Guinea for your Fulani dialect OmarBah In Nigeria we say To "Pronounced as "Toh". Is the "Si" from French? Because Si also means if in French. |
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Omarbah: 6:15pm On Mar 25, 2015 |
Fulaman198:Yes I did. From listening to the music and watching some movies from Adamawa, I am getting used to the dialect. So Daada is mother, and Baaba is dad. For us, Nene or biro or youmma( Arab origin) is used for Mother and Baaba or Baben( more respectful form) is used for father. 1 Like |

Fulaman, Does Lamido Adamawa speak fulfulde ? I am referring to Alhadji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa. |
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Fulaman198(m): 3:58am On Mar 28, 2015 |
Omarbah: Yes, Lamido Adamawa speaks fluent Fulfulde. Most Fulani from Adamawa really take great pride in our language. Adamawa, Taraba and Gombe Fulani really pride the language over Hausa. There's a saying that 'Fulbe to leydi Kamaru e Fulbe to leydi Nayjeria fuu gootum. ' We both really love our language. 1 Like |

Omarbah: The Mboscuda is the equilvalent of the "Mi yetti Allah" association in Nigeria. Btw, could you understand the Adamawa fulfulde in the video? |
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Omarbah: 6:44pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
Fulaman198:About 50% of it lol. I am rather better with Gombe fulfulde. |
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Fulaman198(m): 6:56pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
Omarbah: Gombe Fulfulde is similar to Fouta Djallon Pular from Guinea and Fuladu Pular in Gambia. So I can understand why you do better with it. Sokoto Fulfulde is similar to Maasinakoore and Fulfulde spoken in Benin (Dahomey). All in all, Eastern Fulfulde also sometimes referred to as Adamawaare or Fombina fulfulde (spoken in Eastern Niger, North Eastern Nigeria, Chad, Northern Cameroon, Central African republic and Sudan) has its own flavour. |
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Omarbah: 8:00pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
Fulaman198:I wonder why Gombe fulfulde is similar to the one of Futa Jallon . Do you have any theory on it? |
Re: Meet The Most Beautiful People On Earth- The Fulanis by Fulaman198(m): 9:40pm On Mar 29, 2015 |
Omarbah: Remember Nigerian Fulani are not all from Nigeria originally. Different clans descended from different parts of Fulani land. Some clans come from Fouta Djallon, some come originally from Fouta Tooro, some come from Maasina, etc etc. When I was on Facebook, there was actually a discussion of this. Because there was a group commenced by Ibrahim Malal Sarr in regards to the different Fulani dialects despite it still being one language (just like there are different forms of English). It was an interesting discussion. With Fulani coming from various regions. So Nigeria has a very diverse makeup of various Fulani groups (there are at least 20). 1 Like |
