Infrastructures was developed in Europe and
western countries throughout the last 300
years, but in Africa this was developed by
colonizing nations merely for the ease of
extracting minerals and that is it. So Britain
and France, Greece and Portugal, Holland and
some other advanced first world countries
came, built what they needed and subsequently
left when they had their fill of diamonds, gold,
platinum, and other precious metals and
stones. When they left and handed over
"independence" to ignorant leaders the arena
was set for corruption and dictatorships to
flourish. Mix poor inexperienced african
leadership and an initially poor infrastructure
and we are left with corrupt countries rife with
war and violent factions. Infrastructures that
are not maintained fails and poverty follows
shortly afterwards. When poverty hits any
nation, life is about survival and not about
technology. Most of Africa is about survival,
and so the struggle for education, basic services
and technological advancement takes a
backseat to issues such as deforestation and
famine, overpopulation and diseases such as
malaria, aids and TB. Life in Africa is a struggle
for most Africans, and although some of it can
be ascribed to slavery, it mostly boils down to
exploitation of Africa's resources by pompous
first world leaders that thought it ok to pitch
up with a flag and some guns and steal all the
valuable commodities, and then leave the
natives to rot in their own ignorance. This is
why Africa is less technologically advanced.
Africans do NOT have a less primitive way of
life, we always had a more primitive way of
life than first world countries and still do.

Because we eat too much carbs which gives more physical energy and a lesser mental energy....

because we are monkeys in human form!!

One of the biggest mistake African leaders made at the time of independence in 1960 was their failure to plan the way forward. It was so obvious they lacked the skills and the experience needed for nation building, but they rather chose to live in mediocrity. They were simply too preeoccupied with getting independence that it never occurred to them that it's one thing to achieve independence and it's quite another to settle down and develop the nation. African culture is at the root of Africa's underdevelopment.

Imagine we do not teach basic engineering-technology from primary 1- 500 level which will concentrate on how things work and are produced.

Even the introtech taught in JSS classes are more scientific than engineering-technology because we do not know that science, engineering and technology are different. Science is about acquiring knowledge, Engineering uses the knowledge to design useful products and Technology bring that design into reality after verifying its workability/feasibility.

Imagine we teach our kids in introtech
Friction instead of how an electric bulb works or is produced. We teach them electricity instead of how an electric fan works and is produced.

Engineering-technology focuses more on application of scientific knowledge.


2) We lack the culture of social responsibility. How many of us sees job creation as our social responsibility.

3) Incompartability of several Africa nation, has left many of them fighting over ethno-religious supremacy. Eg After the Biafran war, Ogbemudia seeked to continue the development of indigenous technology using Biafran smart brains. Those in power called him and asked him if he wants to resurrect Biafra. That was the end of the project of which if he had continued only God knows what they would have done to him and the project.

Do you know we do not have a national, geopolitical, state, higher institution and departmental yearly projects involving private/public university/polytechnic/college undergraduates and finance by students, private and public establishments aimed at developing technological products that addresses our challenges.

Eg BH is a national challenge. If we implement this idea I stated above, we will find ourselves develop technology that can help us subdue BH. These technologies will include drones jetfighters smart bombs cctv etc.

Africans are lazy and they hate thinking. We also found ourselves in a continent where everything as been prepared for comfort.

The simple truth is that we here study to survive the system, while the advanced countries to better their lives.

If you go to any European Country and inspect their educational Institutions and facilities then compare it with what you have in Africa(minus South Africa) you will know the reason why. The key to "Technologically Advanced" is Education, (educate a monkey today and tomorrow it will go to space).

1) Faulty educational system

2) Creation of nations filled with incompartible people.

So many lecturers don't know how to pass information.

Imagine teaching undergraduates from unknown to known

For example

Instead of them to teach undergraduates

1) How things work or are produced

2) Laws theories formulars etc that operate or govern etc point (1)

3) The relationship btw point (1) and point(2)


They start by teaching

1) Laws, theories formulars etc that operate or govern how things work or are produced.

2) They most time fail to teach undergraduates how existing technologies work or are produced and their relationship with the laws theories formulars etc the technologies operate on or that governs the technologies.

3) They jump to application of those laws theories formulars etc in the final year in the form of projects

This leaves a lot of students confused in their field of study. Making it difficult for them to produce any meaning technology and destroying their interest in their course of study.

This aspect they neglect is a major fault in their lecturing format.
