The Seven Forgotten United State Presidents by Solowande(m): 11:53pm On Aug 03, 2014 |
History told us that George Washington is the first united states President. But before Washington became the president of united states, seven other presidents were elected between 1781-1788. Why don't we ever hear about these seven presidents? The first president was John Hanson(1781-1782). Six other presidents were elected after him, all prior to George Washington tenure as president. Now, the question, why don't we ever hear about the first seven presidents of the united state, and why George Washington was recognized as the first president? |

Hence John Hanson may not likely be the first president cos leader was elected immediately after the declaration of independence in 1776. 1 Like |

Before being elected President in 1789, George Washington and other leaders known today as the "Founding Fathers" - were leaders at various capacities throughout the continent. But after the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia (which led to the formation of the Constitution and the creation of the office of the President of the United States), George Washington who had earlier retired as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, was unanimously elected as the President of the United States of America. Till today, George Washington is the only President to have received 100% of the electoral votes. 1 Like |

OrlandoOwoh:no! You seem to be talking about the declaration of independence. The constitution conference started at the constitution house in Philadelphia in May, 1787. After the constitution had been signed and adopted on the 17th of September, 1787, it was required that the constitution would only take effect if it was ratified by 9 states out of the 13 states in which Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusett, Maryland, South Carolina and New Hampshire respectively ratified. |

No at bold. It was the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia that created the Office of The President of the United States - A post that George Washington was immediately elected into. It is the same office Obama is occupying today. That office did not exist before that Convention. 1 Like |
