There was confusion today in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital after a vehicle Tyre exploded. The Tyre explosion was said to have caused police
and civilians to scamper for safety. According to an eye witness, a police sergeant attached to the state police command headquarters, he said even people in the office had to rush out to know, if Boko Haram sect had come to attack the police at the command. He added that people thought it was a bomb blast that went off in the area. Everybody breathed a sigh of relief when they discovered that the tyre of a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was what exploded and not a bomb, he told Leadership.

It is not about the bomb, but the fact that a burst tyre now sound like a bomb to them.
Remember how many people lost their lives in the so called Ikeja bomb blast in 2002 not because of the bomb itself but because of a stampede induced by genetic cowardice.

If there is a bomb blast for instance, the first thing a law enforcement agent will do is to ensure his own safety, then access the situation from that position of safety before taking any offensive action. We don't want to lose all our law enforcement agent in the event of an attack, in the name of gallantry!

So yes, ducking and scampering for safety by Police officer is part of their training, and very much in order!
