PDP Reading Much Into APC Parallel Govt Threat by eunisam: 9:44pm On Aug 06, 2014 |
Abuja - The ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning an Arab Spring in the country. The Arab Spring refers to the overthrow of governments in Arab Africa at the beginning of 2012. Also read: APC threatens to form parallel government "Our attention has been drawn to an open threat by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to institute a parallel government should his party lose the 2015 general elections," Olisa Metuh, PDP spokesman said. "Nigerians need to be reminded that the APC’s understanding of ‘rigging’ is where they lose election. Whenever they win as was the case in Edo, it is free and fair," added. He added the threat to institute a parallel government by the APC was "nothing short of implementing the agenda to destabilize and collapse the democratic system and institute a reign of anarchy." Also read: PDP downplays Oyinlola's defection to APC "The statement by the APC National Chairman therefore has confirmed our position that the APC is not planning for the 2015 election but an overthrow of a democratically elected government having realized that they cannot and will not win in the general elections," the PDP statement added. Metuh said the pronouncement confirmed the APC is indeed promoting a "supporter of APC ideology" and further reinforced the long held suspicion that they had been holding meetings outside the country to enact an Arab Spring as a means to forcefully take over power when it loses in 2015. "This explains why they have been making inflammatory statements and publishing negative advertorials and articles in local and foreign media to incite Nigerians, embolden insurgents and stir hatred and division among the populace while balkanizing the nation along its fault lines." http://m.news24.com/nigeria/Politics/News/PDP-reading-much-into-APC-parallel-govt-threat-20140806 |

The party’s national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, said its party would resist all attempts by President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led Federal Government to steal the people’s mandate in the 2015 general elections as they did in the Ekiti State governorship election. Oyegun who was speaking at a rally in Osogbo to round off the campaign for the re- election of the party’s candidate in the August 9 governorship election in Osun State, said the battle line has been drawn as the party would no longer recognise a fraudulent government from any quarters. 1 Like |

Parallel governments already exist, the notice should not cause an alarm. Bokoharam control a significant portion of NorthEast with their flag raised and the Nigerian flag taken down. What do you call that? South West States under the guidance of Afenifere's DAWN have untethered from the center and returned to the doctrines of Awolowo and AG/UPN to move their region forward. What do you call that? |
