Passenger mistakenly linked with Boko Haram at Lagos airport

Thursday, August 14, 2014

A Nigerian based in Germany, Ahmed Ibrahim, was allegedly brutalised by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, on the allegation that his name was among those on the wanted list of the Presidency.
He was returning to Munich, Germany, when the incident happened.

The Kwara State-born 32-year-old Ibrahim claimed three officers of the immigration service descended on him, with one of them hitting him on his head, which is currently bandaged, while pictures taken and obtained by some journalists showed his blood-soaked cloth.
According to him, while he arrived at the terminal to undergo departure formalities, he was accosted by immigration officers who later seized his passport, a development that made him to miss his flight.
According to Ahmed, the officials said he would need clearance from the Presidency before he would be able to leave the country.

Ahmed was later taken to Abuja on Tuesday, only to be detained in the evening.

His elder brother, Adam Abdullahi, told reporters that all efforts to secure his release based on innocence failed, as one of the officers insisted on transferring the suspect to the headquarters at Abuja.

But an immigration source, who confided in some journalists, said the issue was a case of mistaken identity.
The source said the name of the affected passenger actually tallied with the name of a wanted terrorist which made the immigration officials at the airport to interrogate and quiz Ibrahim.

He, however, denied that they were responsible for the injury he sustained, saying he was the one that actually injured himself while refusing to cooperate.

Job well done by the nigerian immigration. They should kill the terrorist, for most of these muslims are terror-inclined. What the hell is he doing in Germany? Could he be learning how to make more bombs for boko haram?

May you get what you wish others. Even after immigration officers admitted it was a mistaken identity, you still wish him dead.

this is a case of mistaken identity.
the officer should apologize and treat his injury.
The security is only trying to secure and protect us, let's not blame them much.
God bless my pride, my Nigeria

Let me tell you how it works. The watchlist contains names of blacklisted people and most times, name tally which will require confirmation. Your post just shows you are not only foolish but ignorance of airport security procedures.
